i’m pretty much a wimp about flying on planes (it just doesn’t seem right to sit in a chair in the sky) but i love most things about traveling: luggage, comfy scarves, meeting new people, eating snacks i wouldn’t normally eat at home. so when i fly i tend to focus on something new to keep me distracted from the plane part, and that’s usually a small gift for myself. it’s like my non-pregnant version of a push present. for my last trip it was my new yellow simple diary, and for my trip to salt lake (come say hi at the keynote breakfast if you’re attending!) this month i’m aiming for a new bag.

bags2
normally everything in my life is overtly girly, but when it comes to travel bags i tend to lean towards things that are classic and what some would call “handsome” (throw in a preppy monogram and i’m in heaven). so when i saw this leather bag from travelteq i was instantly smitten. it’s the perfect combination of sophisticated and chic, but not overly pattern-filled or colorful. tie a cute scarf around it (like this one) and you’re set! if you’re looking to upgrade your luggage this year, check out travelteq’s bag right here- it’s a lovely way to keep your laptop, papers and magazines in order. [thanks to charlotte for the tip!]

*this guy isn’t cheap (around $518 american) but if you’re investing in a leather piece to keep for years it might be worth the splurge.

The bag is amazing and well worth the price tag! Their website is great and I love the music, makes you want to stay and shop.

I love this! there is something so chic about traveling to me. Too bad it’s a little out of my price range, know of anything cheaper but still as cute? I am going to Italy in May, and if I’m going to be chic anywhere it’s gonna be in Italy :)

monique

Oh yikes…. drool drool drool! It’s *lovely*. Great eye as usual, Grace!

Michelle

That is a very handsome laptop bag. I got one similar in leather at Marshall’s for about $125, which to me felt like a ton but it was worth it, I use it all the time to take to client meetings and it is handsome to boot. I love it!

Jen

Love it!!! Love the site too. Would actually love to see a laptop bag product guide. I am in desperate need!

i prefer having ‘handsome’ bags too, when it comes to traveling. it just feels more sophisticated, and when i travel, i don’t want to be flashy. i will definitely keep this bag in mind when i can afford it! it would even make a nice briefcase for work!

Jessica

While I think the bag is lovely, the only problem that I would have with it is that it is made of leather. The cruelty and pollution that the leather industry creates is awful! If I could find a sohpisticated bag like this in a vegan material, I’d be all over it!

eh

Beautiful items but, sorry, HATE the term “push present.” Blech.

k

agreed- would love a laptop guide! have been on a search for months for one that is streamlined and sophisticated but also big enough to stow the cord and A/C adapter.

i think you should do a luggage guide. i’m having a terrible time finding cute, AFFORDABLE luggage. i’m a poor college student going to europe soon – all my money is going toward my ticket right now. :(

Chrissy

I second the laptop guide- or maybe a travel accessories section? I always loved the travel stuff in Domino and I miss it :( Design*sponge is a wonderful substitute though!

i’ll add that to my list. sadly we’ve shelved that concept for a while because all the budget friendly bags aren’t up to par in my book. all the design-friendly stuff is radically out of our normal budget range.

t- I have some luggage from Target that I LOVE. Swissgear brand. I’ve taken it to Asia twice and it’s held up wonderfully. The design is nice and the price was VERY good.

Lili

that is a very gorgeous bag indeed. I usually carry my laptop in its case in my larger carry-on longchamp but I would definitely use this bag for day-to-day!

stella

I second Michelle- Marshalls and TJ Maxx tend to have amazing luggage…and what a deal!

jane

It’s worth going to the site just for the tunes. ;)

Beautiful bag.

Shannon

Amazing bag and the combination with the scarf makes it even better! Now if only I could convince my husband…

Lise

That bag is great. I’m more at the budget level of a new Pashmina for a international trip so I’m totally envious.

Awesome bag, now Grace could you help a girl out and make a backpack guide post? I’ve been searching for something stylish for over a year!

ni

beautiful bag, might buy one for office use but I don’t think its really right for travel because it doesn’t have a strap. are you really going to hold it in your hand, have a coat on your arm and pull your carry-on? add on anything else, like a purse, and you will run out of hands…

I’m an accessories addicted, and of course includes bags and this gorgeous briefcase. the detail on the side (material) gives the final touch. makes it special and different form others we all have seen.
i would love to have one to carry my notes, sketches and diary around…

I love the design, but not being able to put the bag over my shoulder would drive me crazy! A totally different look, but I swear by Hayden-Harnett’s Ibiza bag – bought it on sale last winter and it’s the best bag I’ve owned for work. Cushioned pocket for laptop, tons of space inside that I have used not just for wallet/phone but also for change of shoes, extra scarf, books and more. For my work commute and flights I need a bag that can expand :)

Uni

those bags are bangin…..if only they weren’t so expensive. and yes, the music one the website got my toes tapping.

Miranda

OMG! Have y’all seen the price cut?? 365 euros instead of 500! thats 520 dollars. I might reconsider :)
