before & after: san francisco loft makeover
this san francisco loft makeover comes from anastasia at faiella design, who shared a great mural makeover with us last year. anastasia worked with a homeowner in the SOMA area of san francisco to create a home that was warm and modern, using a mix of osborne and little fabrics and affordable furniture from shops like west elm and crate & barrel. i’d be happy to pack up and move into this light-filled space any day. thanks for sharing, anastasia!

I’m totally into the alternating wide stripes on the walls. Cool idea!

Love the purple!
love the coffee table and blue chairs. Well done!
while I love my little single story ranch, sometimes I yearn for high ceilings — really opens up some options!
Is the couch from C&B? What is the color?
What a fantastic space! Love the drapery treatments and wall color. Thanks for sharing.
I love this apt.–so cute! Do you know who did the huge canvas behind the couch? I’d love to know; that piece is gorgeous!
Where do you get that great couch and blue velvet chairs?!
im packing and coming with you!
I love the horizontal bands of paint on the walls and the curtain treatment in the passageway.

loft make over?
please can you tell more about the tonal stripes? I love it!
Wow thanks or all the comments! A few quick responses….yes a professional photographer took the after shots, his name is Chi Fang.
The sofa is C & B the Petrie sofa. The Draperies are all custom by Leong Interiors, Doreen is fantastic!!
Beautiful. I’d love to know the source for the runner in the hallway.
Horizontal Stripes are done by Ted Somogyi of Probert Art, Lighting design is Jim Misner, Jim Misner lighting Designs. The coffee table is Jason Lees, Jason Lees Design.
where did you purchase that brown runner in the hall? I want one too!!
Looks great Anastasia! What a transformation. It was fun helping you with this project!
Anastasia created a really classy space here which doesn’t have the typical loft-hi tech cold pretentious look…instead it is warm and inviting with quality materials and still accented with sparks (like the pink pillows and deep blue chairs) which give it huge style. She has a great sense of balance -restraint and flair.
Fantastic before and after…great color!
Please, please tell me where you got your couch?!? I have been searching high and low and haven’t found one that is completely perfect until I saw this makeover!
i don’t like it, very 1990s!
Apologies, I missed your earlier comment about the couch source. Really great job with the entire loft! I’m inspired!
I love the carpet in the main room. Where is it from?
The runner is from ABC Carpets/San Francisco. Rug in living room is a one of a kind Pakastani Piece from Floor Designs/SF… Original retail value $8K-it was vastly discounted as manufacturer was clearing space for new product!
Really well done. I love the color combination, the rugs–just the overall look. And these pics serve as a great example for how to dress oversized windows.
great remodel! thanks for sharing this home.
Gorgeous! I love the blue chair and the big round coffee table.
That is just lovely. The drapery and wall stripes make that area look so much bigger. Beautiful.
I am seriously inspired by this. I was just starting to lose steam on my own apartment makeover, but this gave me back my mojo. Thank you!
Congratulations! You did beautiful work.
The blue chairs! For me, it’s all about the blue chairs! And then to see the blue lamp shade… just wow!
The space is so welcoming. Colour and eclectic objects are so well together. Really nice.
i agree i love the alternating stripes and the waves on the carpet when you enter. Really nice.
I love the sphere lantern– where is it from?
This color scheme really speaks to me! I just redesigned my blog and picked gray, purple, and black. Love love love it. I have really been into that dark gray lately. Gorgeous.

Wow, what an improvement! This looks like it was a challenging space, with its odd angles and high ceilings. It took real skill to make it look warm and cozy and still have an open feel.
Well done!
Gorgeous. I love the wall color.
Gorgeous. The colours are lovely. I love the navy against the pops of pink.
