I wasn’t allowed to watch a lot of television when I was a child, but I do remember watching Sesame Street. When I think of the ABC’s, I immediately remember the old stop motion animated clips they used to play on the show. Thanks to You Tube, they are still available. I’ve been playing them for my kids all week and they’re begging for more.

When I was little I called this one the “jazz alphabet.” Check out the classic New York scenery, kid narration and jazzy Joe Raposo score, on this classic 1970s Sesame Street alphabet segment:

What fun. Sesame Street didn’t make it to France. Seeing those regular little kids with Ray brought a tear to my eye. Especially the one on the steps who started clapping to the beat before everyone else. Priceless!
Do you know about “Here Come the ABCs” DVD/CD by They Might Be Giants? Great catchy songs and amazing animation — I love it as much as my almost 3-year-old son!
This is a fantastic post!!!!!
