today’s first before & after comes from kiran at inkling prints. kiran turned this sad looking, torn-up footstool into a cheerful new place for that adorable dog to sleep. thanks for sharing kiran!

what is that green fabric and where did it come from?
Love the chairs- I could totally see these chairs in Coastal Living in the home of one those ginormous estates by the sea!
Oh my goodness, I am obsessed with that green and white fabric. Against the navy blue it’s so preppy, but the print is so fun. I love how glossy the paint is as well. Perfection!
I agree with the comments above, I’m loving that green fabric!
It’s a Thomas Paul fabric, available at Calico Corners, though they don’t identify the designer. I used another one in the line for a chair recently and love it so much!
It’s called “Stockholm” and it’s in the “Modern Zone” collection: http://www.calicocorners.com/category/landingpage/modernzonefabrics.do
Isla, could you share how you did the open back of these chairs? I have four chairs with a similar design as these and they desperately need to be repainted and reupholstered. I am a little lost on how to reupholster the top of the chair with the open back so that it looks professional.
Love those chairs. What fun, bold fabric choices!
The little footstool and doggie are darling!
isla. where in hawaii are you getting these gorgeous pieces of furniture. you’re such a rockstar when it comes to before and after.
oh. em. gee. i adore those chairs! i now have inspiration for updating the chairs I have at home. what a great job.
Aw these are lovely! Question, where do people find old chairs to refurbish? I’d like to find some short legged ones, kind of like those but shorter and with armrests, for my mum!
Hi everyone, thanks for such great comments! I had fun with them for sure! Amy – good question, i was confused also but there was piping around the edges of the existing backs, which hides how the panel just slips in. We just recovered the existing back and glued the piping around the edges. The Thomas Paula Duralee fabric is really reasonable too!
Love the Green Chairs, Isla!
OMG that’s a little Crash! dog!!! I looooove Border Terriers! They are the best.n Sorry I didn’t notice what else was in the picture!!! ;-) Just kidding! Nice foot stool! Crash! wouldn’t get up on that. On second thought, maybe if I made one soft enough he would!!!
Love the chairs Isla! What a great way to spruce up the room. The green and navy look awesome together, nice work!
incredible! I would have never even thought to give that foot stool a second glance or a hope for the future!
Oh hell, for a moment, I thought the “before” photo was of a chocolate cake!
Maybe I’ve just started a new trend in cake decorating :-)
Thanks for the doggie comments! :D She’s a fab dog my border and she deserves her very own footstool! :P
I’m not sure about the footstool looking like chocolate cake.. haha Maybe u were just craving chocolate cake eeloh? :P
Kelly green fabrics are so hard to find–that’s exactly what I’ve been searching for to recover my own dining chairs. Thanks
I purchased four yards of this fabric in red and I thought pillows. Not anymore!

You aren’t gonna believe this, but my dog looks exactly like your dog… I mean exactly! I thought you had posted a picture of my dog!
