This is a great article and very well documented! I am the VP of Design for WWRD USA (Waterford Wedgwood Royal Doulton) and to celebrate our 250th anniversary last year instituted the "Josiah Wedgwood Design Award" with four US design schools, FIT, RISD< Pratt and Parsons the New School. IT was wildly successful and a great tribute to our founder, Josiah Wedgwood! Thanks for the great article and photographs!

Wow this was fabulous, Amy! Thanks for the lesson and the reading list! I'm a potter myself and going to make my boyfriend read Dolan's book with me. He's a history buff so I'm sure he'll enjoy it.

It's so exciting to see this.
I feel like a lot of people in this generation (i mean under 40)don't even know what Wedgwood is, but you can always find a piece at someone's parent's house, which always makes me feel that there is a little piece of my family in people's homes.

Despite efforts to get Wedgwood back in the family, Wedgwood was aquired by KPS capitol partners when Waterford Wedgwood filed for bankruptcy a little while ago.
With that, the equity group made a deal with Deloitte to move Wedgwood manufacturing out of England, to start producing in Indonesia.
So sad.

I'm late to this post, but any of you that live near Birmingham, AL, should visit the Wedgewood exhibit at the Birmingham Museum of Art. I think it's one of the largest collections in the country. It's amazing.

Thanks for another great post!
