marimekko is one of those brands that seems to be universally loved across the globe. it’s hard not to love their bold colors and cheerful patterns, so i was thrilled to hear from maria at new wall in canada about their new line of marimekko wallcoverings.

launching at the end of this month at IIDEX in canada, the marimekko wallcoverings will feature a huge range of classic marimekko patterns- including my favorite, kivet. i’ve chosen a few of my favorites above and below, but you can check out the full collection in person at IIDEX later this month. if you’d like to inquire about purchasing, you can shoot maria an email right here.

Totaly in love with the grey/blue flowers
LOVE the grey dots! I can very much picture that in my kitchen.
Marimekko fabrics are quite nice — however I personally don’t know if I could handle the majority of them on a full wall. Sensory overload for me — especially that last example!
Does Marimekko make different patterns for their US customers than their European? I feel like the designs have a more mass market appeal than the original designs. Is this true?

i’m not sure- they may only market certain designs here, but i’m not aware of any existing deal like that…

Laura–I agree with you a full wall might be too much. But I’ve seen some great examples of Marimekko remnants framed and used as art so you get the pop of pattern without the sensory hangover.
I know, they’re fabulous aren’t they? I spotted them at one of my fabric suppliers in Australia recently and was instantly mesmerised.
Gorgeous and, wow, it’s certainly about time for this!
The 3D look of that second one is amazing, but I do agree it would eventually leave you blind!
such a fan of patterns. nice!
Thanks, Grace, for the reply. It does make sense that the American aesthetic means that different designs will be marketed here. I’ll look into it some more.
These prints are amazing… and since I normally associate them with fabric, it’s easy to imagine these rooms as like a Marimekko tent (!)
Finally! The answer I was looking for. I was going to do dots on my wall or part of my wall just like the ones on the first picture.. had my doubts but not anymore. Loved it. Thanks.
i need the top grey pattern. love!
These are beautiful. They are so intricate yet simple at the same time. I would love my house to be filled with these lively patterns (especially the thin black lines)
I am going to Canada next week and there’s a marimekko store right by where I’m staying. I know what I’m picking up!
Lydia-
Marimekko offers the same selection of fabrics in Europe as in the U.S. and the rest of the world. New designs (and colorways) are added seasonally and some others are retired each season.
With a couple minor exceptions, the entire Marimekko catalog is available to U.S. retailers.
love the grey dots, marimekko has done amazing things for decades, nice to see the current crop!
yeah! i am going to that show and will get to see these in person. finally I get to go to show, rather than drooling over the photo’s provided by grace. thanks
these photos seem like they were MADE to be on D*S! The colors and textures go so well with your layout- perfection.
I’ve always loved the Marimekko flowers. I think in the grey and black it would look nice as an accent wall.
GORG. Marimekko can do no wrong.
I remember the days when people used to shudder at the mere thought of wallpaper, but there is absolutely NO WAY they could deny the beautiful colors and patterns displayed here. Makes me want to wallpaper the house house in ‘em! :)
I love kivet, it’s one of my all time favorites from marimekko.
All of them are gorgeous but my fav is the one with the gray dots.
