every now and then i stumble upon an interior designer whose work feels like the perfect combination of modern and classic. i find myself constantly struggling to combine my love of classic, traditional design with my desire to indulge in current color and pattern trends. so when i heard from designer tamara kaye-honey i was thrilled to see that her work balanced both of those worlds perfectly.

originally from halifax, nova scotia, tamara now lives and works in los angeles where she runs her interior design firm honey interiors. tamara has a real knack for combining high end pieces with low-budget finds and uses some really fantastic color palettes in her work. i was really smitten by her work in a south pasadena home so i thought i’d share some photos from that project here today.

oh to be the lucky residents of this pasadena home- i love the way that tamara used yellow throughout the home in a number of different ways- in poppy sunshine hues and more sophisticated golden tones. and the little girl’s pink bedroom (picture after the jump)? i’d be happy to live in that room right now. you can view more of tamara’s beautiful work right here and contact her for design services right here. thanks to tamara for sharing her beautiful work with us!

Tamara, this may be a funny question, but why did you stage the room with the 2 fur/shag chairs with a picture of the young girl on the floor?? Is this an idea for pictures or did you do this to help bring a center point to the layout when you were shooting?
Wow! Please, Tamera, can you tell me the exterior paint colors? That dark blue gray and perfect yellow for the door? I must put those colors on our house too!
Really playful and sweet — but not too saccharine. What a beautiful home! (And no one’s mentioned those sheepskin chairs?)

A word about nomenclature for non-Angelenos. This lovely house is not a “Pasadena home.”
This house is located in South Pasadena, a city separate and apart from Pasadena. (See West Hollywood.)
LOVE!!!! So happy!

- also, what shade of white are you using throughout?
Thanks!
Dear Design Sponge – I’d love to be able to locate fabric like the chairs shown in picture labeled honey8. Is there anywhere you could point me that I might be able to locate this fabric? I’m wanting the fabric on the brown/orange/gold patterned modd side chairs?
