today’s final before & after comes from art director tamsin allen and her photographer husband, with whom tamsin runs a series of photography courses. when they’re not busy working and teaching, tamsin and her husband have been tackling the remodel of their victorian home in london. their most recently finished project is this gorgeous kitchen remodel. tamsin’s handy husband did a lot of the work himself: he replaced the radiators, the ceiling cornicing, the ceiling rose, plastered a wall, replaced the skirting boards, fit the electronics, and did all of the architraving. wow! the floors are originals, but spruced with a “jacobean oak” stain and floor glaze. the rest of the decor is a mix of ebay finds and their favorite modern design objects. i’m blown away by the chic-ness of the final result- great work, guys!

I love this transformation! I really appreciate how eclectic it is. Great job!
sweet cabinets and the dark floors are yum.
Wow! What a huge difference, I am not a fan of the cabinets but I sincerely respect the work that was put into this! Great job, the floors looks magnificent and I’m glad to see the awesome stove was kept!
beautiful.
AH! BEAUTIFUL!
Are the cabinets DIY also, or are they name bran? Custom?
I love this kitchen! Where are the cabinets from?
oh. my. god. yes!
this is quite perfect
Gorgeous renovation. I love the floors.
Ok – where or where do you get gorgeous cabinets like that? Are the doors and hardware customized?
oh. my. god. yes!
this is quite perfect
lovely redo.
wondering about counter space. the table’s a little low for chopping veggies. is there a section we aren’t seeing?
gorgeous!
Love it. Can you tell us what kind of cabinets those are? Type of wood? Source?
Beautiful work! Well done!
Love it! Is there any way to find out the paint color? It is fabulous!
what would you call that table? any info in it? it is the perfect narrowness for my long railroad.
thanks!
is that a built in espresso machine? fun!
Gorgeous – so jealous! I need a kitchen makeover!
Wow. Wow. Wow!
It’s just a bit stark for my taste. I would have run a bold color strip of tiles behind the stove right up to the ceiling.
i am in LOVE with those cupboards! well done…
Fabulous renovation! I am in love with everything you did! That table is to die for too. Job well done. Thanks for sharing.
Love the transformation.
Solid execution of this install, sheetrock, moulding and floors!
Neat clean and tidy!
Great looking cabinets.
The vent-hood…I get the look they were going for yet it seems somehow unfinished.
The wall color, furniture, lack of accessories (warmth) make this overall design seem like a person suffering from “seasonal depression.’ The simple / stark look is very popular…a simple glaze on the walls may warm this up a bit?
astonishing.
Wait! Are you sure this is the same kitchen?
:-)
Holy moly! Those cabinets are fab! Love the dark wood floors too, were they hiding underneath the ugly flooring? If so, what a lucky find!
Could you tell who manufactured the stove hood? I love it!
AMAZING. I LOVE that table very much.
While I love the look of the cabinets, I don’t like the large space underneath them. All I see when I look at that is a place for my cat to hide, and then surprise-attack my ankles while cooking. And I’d rather not drop a knife or a pot of boiling water on my cat by accident, even if she does deserve it (I kid, I kid).
Love the wood used for the cabinets.
Looks amazing!! Great job!!
I am with those who would love to know more about the cabinets. Dig the idea of a wooden backsplash (hope it’s sealed right!). Is that a built in espresso machine? Woah.
love this room, the cabinets, the table. let’s eat. great stuff!
Love, love, love the chandelier!
great floors
I acutally said “Wow!” out loud. Love it.
Wow! Gorgeous!
I have to have more info about the cabinets as well. The juxtaposition of the sleek mod cabinets and backsplash with the old rustic floors is genius! The modular kitchen is the way of the future! I’m inspired.
holy cow! what a transformation. wow. they did an incredible job.
ok, this is the most refreshing kitchen remodel I have seen in a long time. It is underdone instead of overdone… why does it seem that people need aisles and miles of granite and islands in their kitchens right now? What the hell are all these busy parents cooking? This kitchen looks perfect for my cooking an eating habits… and its warm and inviting without being a country kitchen.
well done :)
Such HARD work…but what a payoff. Have to say that the one chair looks lonely, is it waiting for others? :)
Looks great, but if they cook a lot at home, that wall is going to sustain a lot of damage. I’d put tiles, for easier cleaning.
WOW! I’ts amazing! Really beautiful!
Those cabinets look to be IKEA, Nexus Yellow-brown , done in a clean and modern way . It’s ashame those handles were discontinued .
i LOVE that floor! do you think it’s reclaimed wood?
well now, alright!
this IS a beautiful kitchen.
so nice to see an inspirational
room again.
love love the wood backsplash. Please do tell what make is the hood?
LOVE it!
That is absolutely gorgeous – I want that kitchen, too! :D
That transformation is ridiculously amazing! I love it!
a dream kitchen!
Can you tell me where they sourced their hood? I would love a better look at it…many thanks. K
Where is this table from? Did you swap out the table top? It would be perfect in my apt.
I love the vintage/modern combo with the table and chair. Where did you find them? I’m currently dining room tableless and would love this!
This is just lovely… The perfect combination of modern sleekness and vintage warmth. I’d love to know what the beautiful gray color is…

is it tacky to ask how much? I am contemplating kitchen remodel
So glad they kept the original stove. Its such a great piece that anchors the whole kitchen.
Loved it all, especially the kitchen table as I have one very similar but would love to know the different treatments you gave the top and the legs? Think this could really breathe new life into mine!
ONE BEAUTIFUL KITCHEN… I am dreaming that mine would look as beautiful one day…. great job
The color of the cabinets and the wood floors are stunning!
sweet. just got added to the reference list for my current remodel.
