lucie summers has shared colorful before & afters with us before, and today she’s back with a new makeover. lucie found this 1950s cabinet on ebay for about $10- it was worn out from sitting in a garage for years so she decided to take the doors off, sand the whole piece down and apply wallpaper to the back panels and a new coat of paint to the exterior. so lovely! click here to see more images. thanks, lucie!

next up is photographer heather espaƱa, who recently finished making over her home…just in time to move in two weeks! isn’t that always the way. i love her orange living room makeover, but you can see more of her home changes right here. thanks, heather!

what transformations! i especially love the cabinet!
Wonderful improvement! I love this orange wall color. Can you tell me what brand and color it is?
Green Key: Thanks! :) Sadly, this color will be hard to duplicate. They didn’t have the paint chip I needed, so this color was custom-mixed and it took about four tries! Crazyness. The brand though is ACE Royal Touch in semi-gloss.
I’m a sucker for that orange as well. Both transformations are lovely. Nicely done!
I love the living room! I’m working on a project and decided to do orange/black, but was hesitant because I thought it would be too Halloween-y. My project turned out well, but yours came out even better!!
love the shelving on the wall heather added & the print of wallpaper for the cabinet lucie used
I love the wallpaper in the cabinet! Where can I find it?
simone – the wallpaper is from ‘homebase’ in the uk – it’s sadly not available anymore in this colourway (or if it is, my 2 local branches certainly don’t have any left and neither does the website) which is soooo annoying as i’d wallpaper my entire house in it, including the exterior if i could ;)
nice! the colors are great, i would suggest painting the shelf brackets to finish it up and really make the floating bookshelved pop.
Amy – that’s exactly what I said when we put them up! :-) Lol. We decided to leave them white because we’re renters, and I knew we’d be moving again and taking the shelving with us. The white will work perfectly in our new place, so I’m relieved I didn’t paint them. But you’re absolutely right :).
check out benjamin moore’s orange burst for a similar orange. we used it in my son’s bedroom.
I love! the way you did things. I live in Portland, OR as well and I am looking for ideas for when we move to New Mexico in the next month. Portland has some far-out way cool stuff. Excellent redo!
