osborne and little makes some of the most beautiful wallpaper designs in the market right now, so i love seeing projects that involve their work. for those of us who can’t wallpaper our homes, because of rental or cost issues, using smaller sheets of wallpaper for furniture projects is a great alternative. this wallpaper project comes from art director danny luckett, who decided to spruce up a retro-style sideboard that was in desperate need of some help. i know there’s a big group readers that hate to see wood (in any condition) painted or covered, but i think danny’s upgrade is so sophisticated and modern- it’s a piece i know i’d be proud to have in my home. especially when everyone says “that’s so beautiful” and you get to say “thanks, i did that myself”. danny’s upgrade details include: sanding and cleaning the sideboard, painting the insides a rich red, painting the outer frame white (leaving the top natural wood), wallpapering the doors, and adding new modern hardware. great work, danny!

I’m not usually a fan of the wallpaper-on-furniture thing, but this is very, very nice. I like the mix of red, white, natural wood and the lovely paper. Well done!
I love seeing these projects, and this once is really nice with the hidden red detail. But is there a secret to picking up wallpaper scraps of this size? Seems like buying a whole roll would be overkill (and overly expensive!)
ooo! I love that! That is a great idea!
I absolutely love when the inside of a piece of furniture is painted a surprising color. It’s like unwrapping a present!
This is really lovely!
Wow! They did a fantastic job matching the design on the drawers! This is a great makeover.
LOVE IT!!!!
what? and replace those loops of scratchy rope?! :)
this is absolutely gorgeous.
WOW! this is incredible. It did need some love and a little wallpaper love never hurts. magic.
I am so copying this! I keep seeing sideboards at second hand stores with lovely clean lines, but the wood is usually in hideous condition. This looks amazing. I’m inspired.
I love that Danny painted the inside, too. I am always too lazy to do that, but it makes for such a beautiful detail.
Oh I’m jealous! I’ve been trying so hard to find a credenza just like that. Such a beautiful job.
This is one of my favorite before and afters! Love everything about it. Great piece of furniture.
*sigh* I really heart before and after posts. :)
LOOKS amazing! Nice work!
What a gorgeous job!
When natural wood has a beautiful grain, I’m in favor of not covering, but in the case of unexceptional wood like this was, you have turned bland into exceptional.
Love this piece! It’s amazing how this piece was taken from trash to treasure.
so stunning. so jealous.
must get one.
My fiance’ and I love this cabinet, I wish I had room in my apartment for something this fabulous.
I love! Amazing!
I am one of those “don’t paint the wood” but that is a very nice thing he did. I have many old pieces of my grandma, and my ex’s they have been well used and need help. I have cleaned and waxed but I kind of would like to paint them.. I wish I could just let go and do it.
The piece is beautiful!
Vie, if you live with it you should love it. There’s no value in surrounding yourself with ho hum bare wood furniture. “Let go” as you put it and refurbish the pieces into items that will make you smile!
This is my favorite type of b&a. Something that looks like it could never be repaired and stylish and it looks amazing. I love the pattern paper and red inside. Gorgeous!
I’m about to do this to a dresser I have at home. I am assuming that I need to sand the outside, but how is the wallpaper adhered? Also, is there a varnish or sealant that is used on top of the wallpaper? Thanks so much!
Am I the only one who thinks they took a decent credenza and turned it to a flower power mess?
