this bright and cheery before & after comes from graphic designer christy kilgore-hadley. christy found this beat-up table by a dumpster and, despite its shabby appearance, thought the base had some potential. so she cleaned it up, painted some metal file boxes she had laying around and put them together to make a new end table with a little bit of storage. the result is so clean and crisp- great work, christy!

I have an old table with legs like that! Now I totally want to paint them…
oh cute!! it looks like a character out of a pixar movie :)
Love it! It’s like a little robot.
funky fun.
very cute christy.
LOVE IT!
Sorry, but it looks like it should have stayed at the dumpster. To each their own.
What a great idea! Love the creativity and desire to give new life to something that would otherwise end up in the dump! Kudos!
How cute! Love the fun colors!
so clever! i love when people see the unhidden potential that those who are cynical are blinded from!

cute! that would look great in my future garage! my color scheme is white, orange and blue.
oooo my two favourite colours…super fun and retro robot-esque! I LOVE!!
this looks great. question: how do you paint metal?? I have some retro metal furniture that needs to be repainted, but I am scared…
Wow! She really has a talent for seeing potential in beat-up objects :)
xx
Man this table is b-e-a-utiful. It makes me want to donate a kidney.
@katie – I used spray paint. First a spray primer and then just regular old Krylon enamel. I love that stuff. :)
Katie – you usually have to spray paint metal or have it powder coated.
Hi, I like the table. Might be the scientist in me seeing this but it looks like a virus.
i love this project…color, silhouette…everything! i would store sewing stuff in it.
the colors are unbelievably perfect together. I have a feeling it would take some time to make it look THAT good, but it’s such a great idea!
no way.
wow! What a transformation!!
Beautiful…
um….WOW! :)
Adorable & unique.
This is really brilliant!
i like it…clever!
Love the colors!
This is lots of fun. I only wish you would have kept the chrome detail along the top of the legs.
@ Gabriel – I wish I could have, too, but it actually wasn’t chrome, it was this weird fake-gold plated something or other. If it was chrome I definitely would have kept it.
Did anyone else laugh when they saw the transition from before to after?
Sorry, but it reminds me of Wall-E.
fantastic conversation piece now and the blue vibrates so nicely with the orange!
I dont get to come onto this site as often as I would like, but I love love love the before and afters. I will say though, some of you are a bit rude. There was a lot of work put into it. I, personally, think it is adorable. It took a lot of guts to even attempt to save that table base. Terrific job!
