these makeovers are dedicated to two popular makeover items: chairs and side tables. first up is d*s reader stephanie, who gave a sad chair a much needed face lift with some lovely fabric from calico corners. i will never underestimate the power of fabric- it’s such a great way to give furniture a crisp new look.

next up is gabrielle from mintage home. a little fabric and mod podge and this old magazine table is spiffed up and perfect for gabrielle’s home. click here for more info on her makeover process.
[have a before & after you'd like to share on d*s? just shoot me an email right here with your pictures!]

Love that table!!
Nice! Love both! Kudos to Stephanie for taking the time to deal with the tufted seatback.
I have two club chairs in that same gold/green velvet fabric and I can’t wait to recover them. Nice job.
beautiful! I love that you share these – so inspiring!
wow… great transformations!! Now I am looking around my house thinking of all the “before” pieces I have.
ohhhh! lovely!
These before/afters are always so inspiring, I always have so much to do that never gets done. And these quickly remind me as well as the different projects I can be taking on.
Going to roll up my sleeve and do something this weekend, even if it’s something small to start off with.
Those are adorable!!
I have that same little bluebird planter…found it at a thrift shop a while ago and it is one of my favorite things!

Love the table, too :-)
I love the table! Beautiful and fresh!!!
I was considering that same Calico Corners fabric in purple for a chair makeover. I’m definitely getting it now! Thanks for posting.
Another great before and after post. Great prints and great paint are our favorite ways to jazz up a space.
oh my God that’s so weird I picked a magazine rack SO similar to that off the street the other day. I have been planning to do something with it, but haven’t got round to it yet. You have INSPIRED me Gabrielle! Thank youuu
xx
Gorgeous table!!!! GORGEOUS!!
Thanks so much for including me today!!!
Gabrielle,
I’s beautiful. Congrats on the exposure.
Beautiful work! I love Before and After day!
Wow, I love both transformations! You can’t tell that they have had face lifts!
The table looks soooo good! The fabric adds a nice touch, love the paint color too, truly an uplift. Nice work!
How do you recover a chair? Can you give us instructions or direct to an easy to follow site? I’m desperate to tackle my wingbacks! Thank you.
I guess I’m a sick person but I liked the chair as it was before too. I have a love of hideous color/texture combos I guess. But the finished one definitely looks like a totally different chair. Love them both!
Definitely an improvement!
That Calico Corner fabric is from Thomas Paul’s new fabric line from Duralee. There are actually several of his prints over at Calico Corner, which is great since Duralee is “trade-only”.
Wow, I never would have thought! I have so many old, ugly, wooden tables…now I know what I can do to them!
Wow, what improvements! Awesome! ;)
I echo Crys’ request. Reader Stephanie with the fab chairmakeover : would you mind creating a step by step explanation or guide for the chair re-do? I have two club chairs similar to yours, perfect fabric, and absolutely no courage to get the project started. Any advice and guidance would be appreciated. I can’t stand looking at my hideous chairs any longer!
I really love the chair – the fabric is so pretty :)
Every time I see a wood table repainted I wanted to run home and do mine . I have my grandfathers tables and my Aunts . I just feel bad.. HELP me get over it please . I have so many adn they are all wood and polished . but I really want funky “60′s)
i LOVE the chair!
that chair is gorgeous! my favorite shade of blue.
Do you know where to find a good tutorial online for reupholstering furniture? I want to buy a “new” used chair for my apartment to reupholster but I’m scared to do it without some help. Thanks!
I echo the above. Reader stephanie, please reveal yourself and give us a tutorial!
she must have been inspired by the martha stewart magazine, I have the same one. Its all about different painting techniques and faux finishes, It really makes me want to paint a wall to look like silk..
Oooh I really hope you’ll share a tutorial with us. I am desperate to renew a similar chair but I don’t know where to begin. Your make over is really inspiring!
I agree with the requests for more info on the chairs! I love the before & afters, but I would REALLY love some how-tos for some of them! I have chairs that are SO similar to those it’s scary. Same fabric, same tufting, but armless. This has me excited for the day they’ll finally look GOOD. :)
LOVE the chair & the magazine table !
I could look at these before and afters all day long! That magazine rack is adorable…
Does anyone know where to get the fabric for that chair?? The link doesn’t have it and I have looking for something like this for ages!
