recycled bottle lights + karen gelardi

ceiling-light
this morning is a great morning. why? because american idol turned out exactly the way i hoped last night! i don’t want to spoil the outcome for anyone who hasn’t watched it (or who cares) but this morning i’m a happy lady. so i thought i’d start the day with some eye-candy that also has me smiling: lighting made from recycled plastic bottles by sara turner of redesign. they’re part of EDF energy ideal home show in london. nottingham trent university‘s enterprise development center- “the hive”- collects plastic bottles from the university cafes and gives them to sarah to clean and sandblast (to get the white color) for her work. such a great way to reuse college cafe waste. click here for more information on sarah’s work.

fabulous lights! I have made some water bottle chandeliers, and have seen many variations… but this is extraordinary!

Loves Rugs

YES! Love that I’m not the only person in the design world who watches American Idol! And these lights are BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Courtney Khail

That is so beautiful (and quirky… which makes me love it even more.) I would have never guessed it was plastic, let alone recycled bottles!

That light fixture is fantastic! It reminds me of the IQ Light [you can see it in a photo of our dining area]. It’s a similar idea of interlocking, modular pieces, but this one is way cooler because it recycles materials. Swoon!
