today i’m packing like crazy to try and get ready for the big trip down south (stay tuned for three southern home tours today) for our wedding. but before i start jumping on my suitcase to jam everything in (don’t worry, the dress isn’t in there), i wanted to get things started with these beautiful lamps from designer javier alejandre. javier is showing in my favorite section of the milan furniture fair this year- the zona tortona. i’m so bummed i can’t attend because it looks like it’s going to be a fantastic selection of people this year. javier’s modular lamp, chromosoma, will be on display so be sure to check it out if you’re lucky enough to visit in person. in the meantime, you can find more information about javier’s work right here.
i also wanted to welcome a special guest blogger to d*s: jess chamberlain of sunset magazine. i’ve been a fan of jess’ writing for a while so i’m thrilled to welcome her as our earth day-themed guest blogger! this week jess will be sharing a few projects, products and resources for ‘living lighter on the planet’ along with some great interviews with ‘eco-trailblazers’. i hope jess’ practical- and achievable- ideas will be inspirational. click here to check out her first three posts of the week!

What a great lamp! It reminds me of a modern version of those ones from the seventies that were chrome and had the globe-style lightbulbs! Brilliant!
