before & after: theresa’s projects

these before & after projects come from san francisco-based author and crafter, theresa gonzalez. theresa has a great book, ‘dorm decor‘, coming out in may, but in the meantime she’s sharing these fun furniture makeover projects with us. i love the playful cake stand- it makes me want to spray paint all of my plain surfaces with a colorful doily pattern. thanks to theresa for sharing!

what is the fabric used on the table? I’ve seen it alot lately and dont know where its from.

The cake stand is ADORABLE!! Great transformation from something that you would throw away to something that you can display.

I like the before and after picture on that cake! All of the teal looks great. I’m a big fan of teal decor.

Does anyone know what the fabric on the chair is? It would be perfect for my dining room!

LOVE the cake stand. I want to immediately go in search of an ugly one and repeat this transformation!

the top of the table is covered with orla kiely wallpaper

i have to stop myself from having too many items in my house that are in this teal blue family… such a happy color.

though I have to admit i’m getting a little tired of the orla kiely flower pattern lately.

agreed with red prairie press–those tiles are adorable, i hope you were able to save and do something cool with them.

excellent refurb on the cake stand – love the doily insta-stencil. And the table and chair are well done also. Glad you shared these!

Love em! Nice fabric and paint choices. All three – fantastic upcycling.

oh how i love before and after day. i keep looking for something to make into an after, but my creativity seems to be limited to web surfing. that’s creative, right?

I adore the lace doily paint job! I just tried it in a black and white theme on a plate and it turned out great!

thanks for sharing!

I snagged some of that fabric she used on the chair at britex, SF! what a wonderful use, I haven’t been able to cut into mine..

I just love before and after projects. Every one of yours is beautiful!

I love how you used the doily as a stencil. I am going to have to try that!

Wow! Great job on the makeovers. I like seeing the before and afters so close to each other so you can compare. You’re very creative.

Wow Theresa! What awesome transformations. Loved it, thanks for sharing! And Congrats on your book! So amazing.
