this before & after comes from leah and her husband in north carolina. after scouring thrift stores and the goodwill they found this chair- which was in pretty bad shape- and gave it a much needed cleaning and face lift. they found the fabric at a local store for $6 a yard and reupholstered it for the final look. i love the cord around the trim- it gives it such a finished look. great work, leah!

I love this. Are there any DIY online instructions on how to try this myself?
Love it! I have a chair waiting patiently for re-upholstery as well, but I haven’t settled on the fabric.
Sandra, there are a number of sites with good upholstery basics, but I think you will find that each piece is really different, depending on the shape.
Great looking chair!
I love that fabric—it looks like someone daydreaming and doodling of Spring.
Great Job!!! I would also love any instructions you might have on re-upholstery.
what a great deal on that fabric!
I don’t know about all this fabric people are using in these before and afters. These chairs look like they’ll be back in 2012 as ‘befores’. I would get very sick of that fabric quite soon.
any tips on how to sew slip covers? I love the fabric you picked.
gorgeous piece of work!
Where are some good DIY sites for reupholstering? I have quotes for 2 of my gamma’s chairs but I could buy whole new chairs at the prices they charge!

there are tons of diy upholstery videos on e-how, the diy network and a number of other sites like curbly.com. just type in “chair reupholstery” how-to, etc in google and you’ll find tons of options on youtube :)
