bbbefore
this before & after is courtesy of designer bryan boyer. bryan recently finished a major bathroom remodel and the results are beautiful. bryan turned this 200 square foot master bath into a chic modern space using materials like walnut and black slate. i love the free-standing sink with built-in storage. click here for more images of the final room. thanks, bryan! It’s a beautiful transformation, but I would miss not facing a mirror when at the sink. The long counter looks like wasted space. I love the soaker tub and slate. Overall it looks like a very manly space. Thanks for sharing!

This is gorgeous. But I don’t see the toilet, either.

I guess it gets its own separate room? Maybe this is only the bathroom room. Ha

There is a round freestanding mirror next to the sink – admittedly, it looks a little small. Generally, I love it. Those windows facing out to a big lawn and trees are great. As for the toilet – do you really need to see the Toto? I’m pretty sure it’s there somewhere.

The view! The view! This is really incedible. I want to take a bath there.

Kara

So neat. Minus the fact that there’s no window treatments. I don’t know how I’d feel about a bath or shower.

Bernie

hmmm. Do you really brush your teeth and spit in that sink????

Kory

The bathroom is really great, but that looks like an amazing yard! I want to be in it right now.

rena

i have been in that bathroom and it is amazing. the toilet is hidden behind the mirror (next to the shower) which slides out of the way. you can’t see the cool little details like the leather pulls on the doors and drawers. also, this house is truly isolated in the middle of an orchard so privacy is not an issue!

bryan

for those of you who really want to see the toilet, it’s hiding behind the full length mirror which is visible in the 3rd image on this page. That’s a pocket door with a flush mounted mirror and leather hardware. Detail here:

And if you *really*really* want to see where the toilet lives you can check out this shot from the construction sequence:

ummm…pretty much amazing. I love how the black slate is uh…everywhere. sleek. I agree, the free-standing sink is very clever.

All of my life I have never wanted to be anywhere more than I want to be in that bathroom, right now.

The lack of window treatments in perfect.

Imagine: taking a bath at sunset when–hark!–a herd of passing deer wander by.

Or something like that.

I like his Comme des Garçons for H&M shirt ;-).
Bathroom is pretty sweet too.

this is incredible. I’m in love with the bathtub next the the window with an amazing view!

Love the cabinetry, tile, tub and fixtures. Very innovative use of space and great light. Only… I’d feel a bit self-conscious myself in a bathroom with no window coverings!

Suzanne

It is a lovely room, but clearly designed for a man. It could be difficult to do hair and makeup there every day.

Design is important, but function is too.

bryan boyer

@suzanne: you’re right, function is very important and so is understanding your client. While interviewing the couple that this bathroom is for, it became clear that the woman actually doesn’t fuss with hair and makeup very much. It wouldn’t work for everybody, but it works for her.

polarbear

That bathroom is bigger than my living/kitchen/dining room! Who needs 200 sq ft. to bathe?

Roxana

Wow! So much inspiration here, I’m loving the chair with the woodland painted scene, the kitchen re-do and the bathroom with the old cabinet as a vanity.

Crissy M

I absolutely love the sink being in the middle of the room. The open shower… genius! It has a very easy feel to it. I could live in this bathroom.
