it’s friday and i can’t wait to close my laptop and head out into the sunshine! after a night of rain we finally have a sunny, 60 degree day so i’m going to run to madison square park and get myself in line at the shake shack. but first i wanted to share this beautiful new collection of textiles from heather at skinny laminx. heather’s ‘sevilla rock‘ collection was inspired by ancient cave paintings (and the work of peter slingsby) from the cederberg mountains just north of cape town (where she lives). heather combined her love of scandinavian style with her spin on the ancient drawings to create a lovely series of pillow, aprons, tea towels, and fabric. i love the soft greys and greens in the collection and have already decided to put my name on one of those lovely aprons. so if you’re interested in checking out heather’s latest collection click here to check it out and shop online. thanks, heather! i hope you all have a wonderful weekend- i’ll see you on monday (and on twitter in the meantime). below is a summary of this weeks highlights:
[ps: to the d*s readers who showed up to the "what is good design now" event last night looking for me, my sincere apologies for the confusion. i was never invited to speak on the panel so i have no idea why it was being promoted via email as such. i'm speaking the the organizers and PR company now to figure out how and why this happened]

These really knock my socks off. I adore these patterns so much.
skinny laminx might just be my favorite etsy shop of all time. Such beautiful and simple designs, and colors I love. Thanks for featuring her new stuff! An enormous inspiration.

Nice pillows. All I could read was, “Shake Shack.” Yummmmm!

Did I miss Weeder’s Digest this week?
I love the playful repetition–it’s just so aesthetically pleasing to have things repeat, but with variation.
Beautiful. I just bought one of the tea skinny laminx towels, which I fully intend to display as artwork in our bedroom. Much too pretty to be a kitchen towel.
Just fabulous..love the apron, red bag and pillow!
I LOVE that fabric…especially the soft aqua color
These fabrics are so beautiful! Wonderful designs!
I love the pattern, thanks for the links! have a nice weekend
I like the bold colour schemes combined with the white – the stark contrast makes for a very modern looking textile that still has hints of the 1950′s! I think the guys from the School of Fine Art, where I work, would love some of this stuff!
The deer print is soo “endeering” :)
