i love when designers use everyday materials in unexpected and clever ways. french design student philippe bougué created this incredible headboard in his bedroom using only ribbons! philippe wanted to “domesticate” satin ribons so he used them as the base material for his headboard, weaving them into a bold pattern he’s called “heads in the clouds”. it’s such a fun idea and definitely makes you start to think about what could be done with everyday ribbons and a little planning. thanks so much to philippe for sharing. click here to see more photos of philippe’s project.

That is amazing! The pixel-like look makes me think we might see some “asteroids” copycats soon.
Wow. What creativity…so jealous!
This rocks. I love that bright yellow wall in the background.
Wow, h0ly crap. That is awesome. I thought it was a rasterized printout or something. I bet you could use that as a template, though, now that I think about it.
Really amazing! This is the kinda thing I LOVE seeing on here. Super creative and resourceful.
wow such amazing work! I’ve been contemplating doing a ribbon weave headboard for a while but nothing that intricate!
neat! i wish i could even contemplate the patience this would call for.
a “little” planning? i don’t think so…that must have taken ages.
This is fantastic, so intricate and yeah i agree alot of planning. I hope Phillipe can make a name for himself with this before some sneaky folk make a version and put it out in the shops.
great posts, so inspiring. Thank you d*s
This is absolutely wonderful! One of the best designs I have seen on design sponge in quite a while! I can’t wait to see Philippe’s future efforts!!
