this morning i woke up with jolene in my head because of last night’s american idol. if anyone else is watching- how much did anoop rule last night? i love his college acapella vibe (and how genuinely proud he seemed to have come back from such a harsh week before). so i’m having a hard time focusing on writing this morning because my head is switching back and forth between garth brooks and dolly songs and is telling me to toss my laptop aside and dance instead. so i’ll make this morning post quick so i can do a little pajama dancing while i make my oatmeal.

the lovely alissa and carly at coe & waito have decided to shift away from studio production and work exclusively as a design consultancy starting april 1st. so if you would like to work with them in a custom capacity, now you can! but they also released a few new items before they stop studio work, so click here to check them out online and order.

and julie wolfson is keeping the project runway design love going on the d*s guest blog this morning, moving from little tokyo shopping with santino rice to talking japanese pop culture with kit scarbo (aka, kit pistol) and esther kim. click here to check out today’s post…

I love the lidded vessel!
Grace- I laughed that you brought up Anoop! we have been watching AI (my fam including 2 teenagers)and I was really rooting for him. I even called and voted. My family all laughed at me last week when I said he was the one I liked. haha. He did really well this time. Yay Anoop!
anoop totally ruled last night!
i hope he makes it to the finale!
also, the guy with the crazy alien voice is growing on me. the super tall guy who was in the broadway production of ‘wicked’? i think it’s a little crazy to mess with a song like cash’s, but that was totally crazy, and i sort of liked it. he was himself and his voice is INSANE.
sorry to double post…and about idol no less, but that guy’s name is adam…and i think the judges were so wrong about his performance. it was too edgy for them and i loved it.
I love Anoop, too!! I’ve been devouring all the videos of his college singing group days with UNC’s “Clef Hangers” on youtube!!!
And I looove these ceramics just as much! They’re so cute!!
Those ceramics are great; the egg cups are precious!
Grace, it won’t make you dance but you should check out Mindy Smith’s cover of Jolene. It’s beautiful and Dolly even comes in at the end. :)
Such lovely elegant ceramics…
And you know, I’d forgotten Anoop hadn’t been kicked off yet, but OMG he rocked last night! Him and Matt G were my faves. Megan Joy totally surprised me (but omg she can’t stop doing that little dance of hers, can she?). And as for Adam, if one isn’t attached to Cash’s version (which I’ve heard like 4 times ever) then it’s easier to appreciate what a cool thing he did with it.
i feel like i’m living on a different planet when it comes to megan joy. she’s GORGEOUS but i do NOT get what everyone hears in her voice. the whole time she sang i kept thinking “train wreck. train wreck. train wreck.” it always reminds me of that paula poundstone joke about darryl hannah “yes, she’s pretty but she can’t act. can’t we just put a picture of her in the upper corner of the screen?”. can’t we just put a picture of megan in the top right hand corner of the screen? i’m sure she’s a lovely, lovely person but i just don’t get it.
Go Anoop! I went to high school with him. Really a total sweetheart, though I haven’t seen him since he was a geeky 15 year old in glasses singing alto in choir!
Hi! OmG that’s my good pal Esther Kim, who’s a great illustrator. http://www.estherlovesyou.com
Sorry link was wrong before.
Hasn’t anyone else looked at the PRICES of those Coe & Waito ceramics?!?!? Dude … $148 for that lidded vessel? $750 for the owl lamp? $64 for a COFFEE CUP? Whoa. I’m boggling at the very idea. I mean, they’re cute and all, but I’ve seen things that are just as cute at Daiso that only cost $1.50.
