I love the Anek Taanka line by Varsha Sharma, and I’m not alone – she was awarded “Young Talent Of The Year” at the 2007 Elle Décor International Design Awards. Her pieces embrace India’s rich textile history with a very modern twist.

Jigisha Patel’s gorgeous felted merino wool textiles are based on the traditional craft of “namdas” but her complicated patterning and gentle, organic colorways make them look ultra-modern at the same time.

Check out these amazing coverlets and quilts by Stephen Burks and Mitun Chakrabarti of Rajboori. Calcutta-born designer Chakrabarti collaborated with New Yorker Stephen Burks to create gorgeous textiles made from ecologically conscious silk- the only silk produced in the world where the silkworm is not killed in the harvesting process.

How amazing are these thrones by Gunjan Gupta? Based on traditional Indian chairs, they’re decorated with gold and silver leaf and transpose clean, minimal design with a luxe finish.

So long India. Tomorrow I’ll see you in Croatia. There will be doughnuts.

I *really* love the look of those quilts and coverlets. I wouldn’t even mind being under those in the middle of summer. Yum!
