Each cookie has special place and heritage. As a lover of good sweet things, I appreciate both and always look forward to macaroons. My grandfather who is 98 always comments on the fact that macarons started as a "darn" plain shell and now he's got to eat 2 when he really wants just one like in the "good" old days.
