Croatia Post 2

Since so much of Croatia has been shattered by war, emerging architects have a blank, if bleak canvas to work on. I love the constructions of 3LHD Architects, one of the country’s leading firms. With an experimental, collaborative spirit, their work is modern and stylish while still being lively and warm, with a focus on interesting materials.

I-GLE is Croatian for both ‘sewing needle’ and ‘Hey, look!’, and I couldn’t think of a better name for this three-person studio that has revolutionized the Croatian fashion industry.

Croatian-born jewelry designer Mia Hebib runs Oblik Atelier out of her Brooklyn studio. Every piece she makes is limited to an edition of 13, ensuring that her style continues to evolve at a rapid pace. Entirely fabricated by hand, she embraces her homeland’s tradition of old-fashioned craftsmanship and brings it into the 21st century.

I’ve always been a fan of I-GLE (which in Croatian means sawing needle, as in N-EEDLE:), and as a Croatian living in San Francisco I thank you for doing this post!!

I love this blog, because it gives a totally new perspective, in this case, on Croatian creativity. On the subject of poverty. With just a little effort from the governments it should vanish from the surface of the world in few years. In the meantime, citizens should follow leads of more conscientious people.

Hi!
I follow your blog occasionally and I’m always thrilled. I am from Croatia and this post is something most beautiful that I saw, I’m glad that my country like this represents. Big kiss, Jelena.

I was lucky enough to spend a month in Croatia two summers ago, two weeks of it with my family and the rest by myself with my bike. I hopped ferries between islands, took rides along the coast, and went swimming every day. I also drank a lot of beer and ate a lot of caviar surrounded by gorgeous croatian men on the beach. I miss that place.

As a jewelry artist, I often inspired to create pieces that reflect my Croatian heritage. How refreshing to read an article about the continuing creative aesthetic still thriving in Croatia today. thank you!
