i love a good splash of red paint so this footstool makeover from artist lucie summers is right up my alley. lucie had this old footstool with “dreadful” fabric for years and years and decided it was time for an upgrade. so she grabs a can of red spray paint for the frame and added a striped seat made from striped teatowels she sewed together! i love the way a simple change can really bring new life to an old piece of furniture. thanks so much to lucie for sharing!

so bright and cheery!
When looking at the before picture I thought “there is no way to make this look cool.” I can’t believe how wrong I was! Great job!
Beautiful! What a transformation.
Well done!

loving this….great job!!
I totally agree with Lucie, when I saw the before I thought there was no solution for it. Congratulations on such a great transformation!
That is beautiful. Well done!
FABULOUS! I saw the before and thought ‘what can they really do to make THAT better?’ Well you did it, I’m officially impressed!
I hate the color red and I still think this is just about the most fabulous thing I’ve ever seen. I want one! Yard sale time.
love it!
can i just reassure everyone and say that i never let it be seen like this – i used to cover it with a lap quilt!
cute:)
oddly enough, I prefer the original (maybe w/an updated, bolder floral textile). but I love the piece itself. a lovely find.
I have a few pieces of that “Emmanuelle” style furnitures at home. Here I come, to paint them !
Thanks for the inspiration !!
I’ve never been a fan of painted wicker, but this is just superb!
