i know tuesday isn’t before & after day, but i couldn’t this bedroom. it looks like such a nice place to take a peaceful afternoon nap, something i’d very much like to do today. this bedroom makeover is the work of designer laura casey and i love the colors in the “after” shot- those soft greys combined with the orange are sophisticated and sweet (and sure beat all the darkness in the room before). i’m feeling the need to make my bedroom feel a bit more “grown-up” these days and i think this color palette is just perfect for that. thanks to laura for sharing! (more info on the room right here)

It looks like all they changed is the drapes and pillows and rug, but it sure makes all the difference. I like it that it’s not a huge, sweeping makeover, but an accessible one. And now I covet those drapes.
That orange fabric is exactly what I’ve been looking for my bedroom! Any idea what it is? Thanks!
Notice the color of her floor. See how the varnish/wood combination makes it actually read quite orange? No wood salesman would ever call it orange, but it’s orange. I have the same wood floors in my living room and for a long time, I tried to use a color palette that fought the floor color. I wanted to use cool tones for an urban modern look. I tried over and over and it wouldn’t work unless of course I totally covered the floor in carpet. Finally, I gave in and used some fabrics that played up or interacted with – or in the old way of saying it, coordinated with! – the floor color. Like this team, I have created an intriguing color combination in my living room that allows the floors to shine and gets me plenty of compliments. :-)
This is a great and simple makeover- love it! It really goes to show if you invest in neutral basics the accents like the curtains and pillows can be swapped for an entirely different look.
And the headboard is amazing!
Wow! I haven’t visited in a while, but I’m loving the new look around here. You have redecorated, right? This B/A is stunning. Like the first warm, sunny day after a long, dreary winter. I’m thirsty for this! I so love the spicy persimmon paired with the pale grey. Lovely!
very pretty. I like this change.
Thanks for sharing another great before and after. The new space is so bright and warm with just a few changes.
I love the orange and gray…I’ve seen a lot of that combination, just over the past couple of days. Is it the new gray + yellow?
What a refreshing yet comfortable bedroom, excellent before & after.
Wow-I love this before and after! I think Kit is right-Orange and gray is the new gray and yellow. Cheers to Laura Casey!
I’d love more info about her headboard!
it is so much fresher and lighter, good job girl!
Dear Laura,
Fabulous!!!
Thanks for sharing. I’m very excited about this for you.
LOVE always,

Love the bedroom. Did you make the drapes or buy them? I’ve been looking for some similar fabric to make drapes for my apartment. Where did you find the drapes/fabric?
Add me to the list of people wanting to know about the fabric. Please share! Thanks.
I think the fabric is Pottery Barn by-the-yard? I didn’t look up to verify, but it looks just like a fabric they added recently.
Thanks everyone for the positive comments about my design. The drapes were custom made. This is the link to my original blog post which has the fabric source and link.

This is just what we’ve needed after such a long winter. What a great way to welcome spring!
Uplifting for one’s spirit!
I love how all of these changes were relatively simple but made such a big impact–lovely!
Wow, that’s amazing transformation, given how few elements were swapped out. Both looks are great! I personally really like the “before,” but the “after” is lovely as well.
Beautiful! I love the curtians and the warmth of the room. Love the headboard…..really I just love the whole room!
The transition is beautiful, light and inviting.
