ok, so i lost the bugles war about 10 minutes ago and am now enjoying the breakfast of champions. so while i indulge in my guilty snack pleasure i wanted to share these lovely new pieces from three of my favorite booths at the gift fair this year: brooklyn’s klein reid, soda by amy, and esque from portland, or.
amy allison of soda had some beautiful ceramic pendants on display (above). i loved their little cookie cutter edges- they looked cute enough to eat. in fact they reminded me of cream colored gingerbread ornaments, the kind you would make as a child at school and bring home to your parents. although hers were of course prettier than anything i would have brought home.

klein reid blew me away this year with their gorgeous art prints based on their ceramic work. if i had some money to spare i would definitely take one of these home. i really love the way klein reid is always finding ways to stretch their ideas into new materials and new media. this year they had a beautiful series of ceramics with soft glazes that appeared to drip down the sides of the containers and they showed their metallic tiles again, which i always think are fun. click here for more info on klein reid.

andi kovel and justin parker of esque studio in portland always make the most beautiful glass pieces. this year they debuted a few pieces that really caught my eye: some fun glass flasks etched with tongue-in-cheek initials like “BS”, glass candlestick holders that fill up with wax on the inside (like a modern spin on those candles at italian restaurants- and when it’s full you can send it back to esque and they’ll mail you a new one!), and my favorite- simple but beautiful glasses with a tiny kiss mark in hot pink. i don’t know it was about those kiss glasses that grabbed me, but i wanted to shove one in my purse and run for the door. i’ll just have to save up and pick up a pair later this year. esque also showed some pretty sculptural pieces so you can click here to see their full collection.

Those pendants are beautiful! At first glance, I thought they were cardboard, like disposable coasters — silly me. I always love the work of Klein Reid! Can you tell us what the panels say? I think I see “love the foe” and “with all this filth.”
Those ceramic pendants are delightful!
I love the esque decanters (3rd from bottom) but I can’t find them on esque’s website. Where did you find that picture?
I covet the teardrop-shaped klein reid print. Covet it. Too bad their stuff is way out of my price range . . .
I can’t believe they let you blog from the courthouse! When I sat during jury duty selection last year – just the selection not an actual trial- they confiscated my book – claiming reading would hinder my ability to pay attention. Well Duh, that’s why I brought it!
wonderful
These are cool. They’re likely to be best gifts for bridesmaids with a unique stuff like this.
Thanks Grace for finding my ceramic charms at the NYC gift fair…such a treat!
Amy Allison’s pendants evoke a sense of warmth and playfulness. Whenever I wear mine I feel happy and proud to show it off!
Now, if I could just get some of her wallpaper on my walls….
AMY ALLISONS WORK ASTOUNDS ME EVERY TIME I VIEW IT. HER CERAMIC CUPS ARE JUST THE RIGHT SIZE FOR A WOMENS MORNING COFFEE.
I TOO, WANT HER WALLPAPER AND CUSHIONS.
