it’s always fun to see the homes behind our favorite designers and today we’re getting a little peek into the home of bryan wark (check out his before & afters here and here). his home at the top of laurel canyon (los angeles) is located on a street that was planned mainly by artists & designers. byran describes his favorite interiors as eclectic and combining different styles and periods, believing “a well designed home reflects the people that live in it.” thanks so much, bryan! and stay tuned for two more great sneak peeks to come! -anne
[above: We collect art & our light filled home is a great box to showcase our collection of antique prints, portraits & landscapes.]
The large landscape painting in the living room is by a CA figurative painter, Andrew Krim. It is definitely one of my prize possessions that I bought from the artist when I was in art school & he let me pay for it in installments over many years. We love books, primarily art & design & they have almost become part of the architecture of our space.
We love the classic mid-century lines of our 1953 home & the walls of glass that open out to our yard.
The famous landscape architect Garret Eckbo lived on our street & planted the now 100 foot tall pine trees as a wind break. Pierre Koenig’s iconic Case Study House No 21 is across the street & architectural photographer Julius Shulman, now 98 years old lives a block away.

Beyond fabulous; the lines are great. I love the room with the walls of glass; the light is beautiful. I can’t quit looking at the before and afters!
WOW the exterior is very original. Triangle-shaped landscaping areas??
The light in the kitchen and the backyard shot is sooooooo socal. I can smell that light. Seriously. I know exactly the temperature and the feel of the backyard concrete on a September morning. I’ve been in Seattle over 20 years, but that’s my childhood.
Beyond fabulous, Jennifer? This place is just so-so at best.
Hey Alex! I’m going to your website right now and buy tons of stuff, OK? Why don’t you pay for advertising instead of taking space on comments?

What great tiles in the kitchen! Where are they from?
Love the black and white (or blue and white?) pillows on the sectional! Any idea of where the fabric is from?
Sara, those two pillows are embroidered navy blue on white linen & from WS Home about two years ago. Thanks.
Absolutely Stunning!
