dwellstudio is moving in a very different, and very interesting direction with their latest collection, abstractions. inspired by fine art, the collection is a bold new look for the company, which is known for their colorful patterns. their two new patterns, linear and collage, come in bedding and pillow forms and i’m digging the new direction. i especially dig the pillows with the large sweeps of color. it’s a nice change from all the regency-style patterns in the market. dwellstudio‘s latest collection will be debuted at the gift fair on january 25th so stay tuned for sale information… [thanks, molly!]

I like the curvy patterns on the pillows, but those squarish blocks really aren’t doing anything for me. I love “irregular” geometric prints more than anything, but the execution here seems off. I always look forward to seeing Dwell’s new collections, but this is a little disappointing for me.
Love these new designs! Especially that pink, gray and black pillow! My favorite color combo!
Cool juxtapositions of modern and old: headboards, woman’s portrait…
Thank you for your awesome web site! I love the ideas! You have inspired me to offer some free tutorials on my own blog! Thanks again,
Natalie

I have to agree with Anna. I kind of like the rectangular pillow in the 3rd photo…but that’s about it. The other patterns are a bit rough.
I know this isn’t the point of the post – but I love the chair best! Any idea whose design is it?
That’s a great leather chair – I’ve often searched for something similar but in fiberglass.
I agree with anna also. the squares are a bit blase, plus they don’t sit very well in the apartment. you can mix ages / styles etc and they look outstanding but this has flopped a little for me.
I second uncharted with the major leather chair love! anyone know where to find that beauty?
I’m a longtime fan of Dwell and like this new creative direction they are taking … but my eye was most caught by those shoes in the third shot down. Any ideas on who makes them (or something similar)? Cheers!
that first set is so nice
Pillows at the top are cool.
The bedspreads look like IKEA.
Awesome prints
I die. (For the long pink, gray and black throw pillow!)
haha! The shoes caught my eye too…they’re pretty awesome. :)
I hope there’s more…sorry, but the cut-out shapes pattern is completely inspiring. Echoes some of the fashion prints from last season (Marni, off the top of my head) – home rarely follows fashion this closely. Agree the pillows are fantastic. And the shoes.
I just realized something — these squarish prints are very similar to CB2′s new “midtown” rug:

The execution is better on the rug, though, I think it’s because the ratio of dark-to-light has a greater split than on the bedding.
The chair is by Zanotta

The hard angles do not appeal to me at all. It is just too visually jarring and that is not the look or feel that I want in a space that should be calming and relaxing. The blue shade also seems off to me and doesn’t work with that sheet either.
I like the bottom picture a lot esp. the bed frame but think a dark curtain (for drama)with a pull shade in (for privacy)
sorry if this posts twice..
james is totally right – marni in color and spirit. and the shoes actually are marni, from fall 08 i think. you can find them on their website, and on sale ladies! (my heart says go!, but suze orman’s free financial download is telling me no, no, no!)
dwell’s ads are definitely more elevated than other home lines, but the photo styling here could’ve better sold the products.
like the new line. wish the duvet had the same nice texture as the pillows, even if it had to be printed…
still love dwell!
anna, thanks for the rug info – think i might try it!
