anti-theft lunchbags

i know these may be high on the “ick” factor at first glance but i think they’re such a funny piece of design. these reusable anti-theft lunchbags from ‘think of the’ are designed to make your sandwiches and snacks look moldy, hence deterring co-workers or roommates from taking a bite. a little icky? yes. hysterical? totally. click here for more info. (5% of all purchases will be donated to ‘freedom from hunger’)

[ps: this is unrelated, but i just read/viewed maira kalman's beautiful painting series for the ny times about the inauguration. it's a beautiful illustrated look at her trip to dc and her experiences there. definitely worth a look]

I think this would probably get my food thrown away at work, leaving me lunchless still.

Anna

Wow, what a funny idea! I would love to use them, even though it might shock my friends a bit! It’s a great idea, I wonder how they thought it up.

OK, If you ever read designformankind, this will sound familiar…

I love you design*sponge. Today I knew it for sure. Your humor, your style never grow old. Be my Valentine….

These are very funny! But please remember that it is environmentally unsound to use plastic bags for sandwiches. Please use tupperware-type sandwich containers that are reusable!

grace

ok now i feel like maybe i’m gross for doing this- but i always reuse my ziploc bags. does no one else?

i clean them with soap and water, dry them upside down on the rack with my dishes, just like i would tupperware.

now i feel like i weirdo or something- but they’re totally reusable until they’re ripped.

Shashi

So funny, I was just talking to a coworker about how the people on our floor like to swipe other people’s lunches. These are perfect!

Ha ha. I sent this around to my coworkers earlier this week. We have a lunch theif or two around here. Sometimes the person will eat half of someone else’s lunch and then put it back! Gross!

wendy

We (the family) reuse our too. We are trying to make our purchases last as long as possible… Wash, rinse, reuse. Very Green of you.

BreeAnn

Does this remind anybody else of that episode of Friends where Ross goes crazy because someone steals his sandwich? “My Sandwich? MY SANDWICH?”

This would have helped him out. :)

lauren

we re-use ours as well, grace – no grossness there as long as they’re washed, i say! though i still don’t understand my aunt, who washes out, dries, and re-uses her PAPER TOWELS – that seems crazy to me.

Erika

First the Snuggie, and now this?! What WILL they think of next?! haha

Jen O

let them know there’s a need for bowls with lids that have this motif too…
or maybe someone can make up little blue-greenish felt shapes we can toss in on top of our salad when we pack it up.

Melissa

I am happy to say no one steals my lunch these days, but with many years of communal living lingering in the not so distant past, this got a heart felt burst of laughter out of me! I think it is shear genius!

Ashley

BreeAnn – It didn’t remind me of that episode immediately, but I’m so glad that you did!

These bags are hilarious- love it.

Grace, you’re not alone, I recycle my ziplocks too. Not gross at all.

blake

These are cute. Maybe I could wrap food up in these and discourage my 6 kiddos from eating everything in site. LOL!!

Luna

This reminds me of junior high school. I used to put green and blue food dye in my egg salad sandwiches to keep bullies from intimidating me into “sharing.”

alex

Great idea! They would totally solve those pesky coworker thieves. I think people would also be interested in a reusable insert to use with normal baggies. This will hit the world by storm!!!

jamie

These are funny but I’m worried someone would throw my lunch out!
I reuse my plastic bags too. If I take the same thing in them all week, I totally reuse them. Not weird at all, SMART! :)

Jennifer

this a great idea! I never understood why anyone would eat someone else’s lunch anyway. Strange, but this would keep those type of people away. Hopefully!

Susan

I could never really believe that soneome would take AND EAT another’s lunch…but it DID happen when I was a teacher. These are hilarious!

I saw the Kalman wesite about the inaugeration….it was amazing!

Ok that has to be the worst thing that I have ever seen for lunch bags but then on the other hand they are fantastic, this is really a great invention for keeping nosy co workers out of your food. Just brilliant
