the holiday season is just zooming by so today i’m heading out with the winterns to check out the holiday decorations in manhattan- the city is always so pretty when the lights are up and everything seems to glow. in addition to holiday decorations, ny is full of great holiday sales this weekend. so if you’re in the area head over to my neighborhood on saturday to check out the designer holiday trunk sale at the bell house (lotta, hable, deadly squire and much more). also, there’s a fantastic holiday sale taking place at lorena barrezueta‘s studio in williamsburg- click here for more details. and of course there’s gifted at the brooklyn flea and a new artisan show in ditmas park to see. i’m off to soak up some holiday cheer before the season is over so i hope you all have a wonderful weekend. i’ll be back on monday with more sneak peeks and some great new podcasts from our winter interns.

I love me some mokum! The yellow chair is outstanding. Thanks for another great week!
That chair is amazing! Also is that a lamp made from a real tree branch..stunning. Where did that come from?
Gorgeous fabrics! The top one had me staring at it for several minutes already, I may be in love…
i am in love with all of this fabric. does anyone know an online distributer? I just searched and searched.. didn’t find anything! I am recovering chairs and I think something from mokum would be perfect!!
I look through all the show rooms but non really seemed to have the fabrics on the Mokum site!
That LAMP! Oh my goodness; it’s gorgeous. Can you provide any information on it?
The textiles are lovely, too, but the lamp took my breath away. Thank you.
I am in agreement with you (as usual) about the lovely chair and its darling fabric! But what really stands out to me is the LAMP! It is so fabulous. Do you have any idea where it is from?
I’m with Karen and Lauren – Must have that lamp! Tried to Google it, but came up with terrible variations on the theme. Help!
I have been looking for the right tree branch lamp, and the one shown here is it. I want it. The fabrics are also wonderful, and quite possibly what I’ve been looking for to reupholster some chairs.
I need that lamp as well! My google search came up with nothing :-( If anyone finds it, please post!

One more vote for info on that lamp.
just a quick question. when you describe holiday “sales” that are going on, you’re not implying discounts, are you?
erica :several of these fairs will have products sold at a discounted rates.
on the lamp: i emailed mokum to see where they found the lamp.
Thank you for all the great inspiration ! R

Have a wonderful weekend, Grace! Thanks for all the beauty you add to the world – your blog is just amazing. (I just read your “about” section and was surprised to see you live in Brooklyn. I assumed you lived in CA, for some reason.) Thanks also for the great holiday guides – I’ve made several purchases based on your recommendations. (I did a gift guide about gifts of time /service.)

I absolutely LOVE that yellow chair! Both the fabric and the shape of the chair are beautiful, and it looks wonderful against the dark charcoal wall and rich brown floor and furniture. I’m moving in, wherever that is.

much awaited lamp info from mokum:
“The manufacturer is James Salmond Furniture in Australia. You can contact them via email at james@jamessalmondfurniture.com or by phone +61 2 9699 1661.”
Thank you for the lamp info.
I love your blog; it inspires me, and that is a great gift in this world. May you continue to be filled with inspiration, and to share it so generously. Happy Holidays!
Thankyou all so much for all of your positive comments about my Twig Lamp. As a designer this has been most encouraging for me. Just for your interest, the lamp design has been cast from real gum tree branches, with the final product being cast in bronze. Two elements that were foremost in directing the design were to have the shade cradled within the branches and secondly to add a quirkiness by having a branch grow up through the centre of the shade. Feel free to email me with any enquiries at james@jamessalmondfurniture.com.au
