vintage chalkboard mirrors

i scooped up one of gosia’s vintage chalkboard mirrors (that’s mine in our entryway below) the second i first laid eyes on them. now every time i walk in the house i’m greeted by a cheerful board full of sweet notes to and from ac (or slightly less sweet notes from myself about taking out the trash). gosia just re-loaded her etsy shop with a few new chalkboards so click here to check them out and pick up your own. prices range from $48-$75.

Such a cute idea! And I love you’re entry way. Such a girl! What is the paint color?

rebecca

where is that little white peice from? it sits so perfectly under the chalk board!

nikol

I like the idea too. If you want to DIY just buy chalk board paint and paint over a thrift mirror or junk yard window in frame.

I’ve been coveting one of these for awhile – and since I always think in wedding terms, these would make a great seating chart or menu!

your entry way is precious, thanks for sharing! i love these, and would love one for my apartment!

Lynne

This looks great – I reckon it could be a good DIY project too – only because I’d have to ship it from the US.

I’m perpetually trying to find the perfect paint colors that won’t freak my bf out. I really like the color of your hallway – what is it?

the colors aren’t very true here- the lighting makes them look white, but actually the part of the wall with the chalkboard on it is a medium grey and the wall is a whitish color. i’m afraid i don’t have the cans any more. so sorry!

I first saw this when my friend Mike Stringer owned his own Bed and Breakfast back in the early 90′s. He did this himself with a vintage frame he had. He is SO ahead of the times! Its been over 15 years since he did this! I always loved the idea. So pretty and so useful. And a VERY easy DIY project.

Neat! But I personally can’t even stand the THOUGHT of someone scratching against it, even accidentally, so I wouldn’t put one in my home. I love seeing them in cafes and restaurants though!

the white storage thing was a flea market find from carl and russell at repop- they redid our living room and that was one of the pieces they found, painted and brought it. i wasn’t sold on it at first but now i LOVE it. ;)

Oh wow! I was both looking at vintage mirrors today AND wishing for chalkboards. What a great idea! I’m totally doing this. While I’m at it, there’s a 1970′s fake painting that I’m totally converting to a bulletin board.

The first frame shown is so beautiful! I really see a lot of utilization of chalkboards lately. I know they were all the rage when chalkboard paint first came out, but it seems to be making a return, and in more inventive ways than ever!

Lindsey

ahhh! this is EXACTLY what i’ve been looking for in my bedroom. and by the time i’m getting around to this it looks like they’re all gone! :(

Amy

What a great idea! I may have to do this for my studio… definitely would be handy AND look cute!

Great usable design as usual. I’ve considered this for a while, but thought there might be a small drawback. Does it generate a lot of chalk dust in the area? I’m in an apartment, and am currently battling dust from a disintegrating carpet from the 80′s. Don’t know how much more dust I can take. Tell me it’s minimal and I’ll take the leap. Linda
