BEWARE!! Don’t buy gift certificates! Got one from my sister (the head master of a Christian school) a couple of years ago. When I went to redeem it a few days ago the big, grumpy owner man announced in front of a room of about twenty that it was fake (a little awkward)! I do admit the certificate wasn’t on their normal paper… I know because I’ve purchased many in the nearly five years that I WAS a loyal customer. Though the owner said that it was indeed his hand writing in ballpoint pen depressed into the paper it must be computer generated (REALLY CRAZY). Who would forge a gift certificate for a mere $50? If you are going to risk jail time GO BIG! Needless to say I will not be returning to somewhere that my (or my families’) honor is in question. This saddens me because I did prefer it to the other nearby options: SAY CHEESE, LA BREA BAKERY, and WHOLE FOODS.

The big guy may seem grumpy on the surface but he was quite charming and friendly when we interviewed him. The rest of the staff makes up for his grumpiness the rest of the time... they're always great!

i love to visit the cheese store in silver lake as often as i can. i usually grab a panini and head on over to intelligentsia for coffee or an iced tea. in the process of waiting for my panini (which takes about 5 or so minutes), i browse products and try samples and i always end up buying more than i came in for :>

I have been wanting to take a cheese class to learn about different gourmet cheese and such. I wonder if their shop offers classes or would be open to having them?
