i am so thrilled to be taking part in what is sure to be a fantastic show in savannah this january. stitch spectacular is a juried hand-embroidery show that aims to showcase the incredible hand-embroidery work coming out of savannah along with contemporary embroidery work from the rest of the country (and beyond). the show is still accepting entries so if you’re interested in entering the competition, please click here for more information. anyone can enter as long as the work is not from a commercially available kit or pattern- and the deadline is october 31st. i’m so excited to see the beautiful work everyone has created and to sit on a panel with kate bingaman-burt of obsessive consumption and torrey stifel of the telfair museum in savannah. click here for more info!

WOW!
That little house is outrageously cute!
I am so excited for this. Since I live in Jacksonville, it is a relatively short drive down I95. I will be sure to go see it.
And for those who have never been to Savannah, I can’t recommend it highly enough…especially the shopping on Broughton St., which is, in walking distance to the Telfair.
And while you are at it, don’t miss the Paris Boutique…if for no other reason than their frozen hot chocolate with the strawberry-scented whip creme!
This is right up my alley! Thanks so much for posting while they are still taking applications.
Also, Savannah rocks! I had one of the wildest nights out ever on the riverwalk back in the day :/
I tried to read-up, but, do you happen to know if the work has to be thread-only- or, can it be a combination with say felt? Also, and not to step on toes but, can out-of-staters apply?

i’m not sure- but if you shoot rubi an email on the site i’m sure she can tell you :)

thanks for the crazy-quick reply!
yay! KBB and design*sponge link forces!
I love Tilleke Schwarz’s work… a whole new take on the sampler. Really cool.
yay! i’m doing this!
To follow up on Sam’s questions, all materials are welcome as long as the dominant feature of the work is hand-embroidery. Welcome, felt. And wherever your home, you may submit.
Thank you again, Grace, for being a juror and posting our info! This is really exciting!
oh wow – Tilleke Schwarz has work in the show! I’ve been following her embroideries for a few years. She is amazing. Too bad I’m in Canada!
Maybe I’m not looking closely enough – but who made that wonderful little house? Please tell us!
