i had to take a brief fashion detour to post these gorgeous new pieces from portland designer liza rietz‘s new fall/winter 2008 collection. all i know is that i must have these two pieces right now. though i don’t think i could pull off those knee-socks. i’d do some sheer tights and grey ankle boots. so cute! click here for more of lisa’s work. [thanks, amy!]

Im so glad you posted this! The Portland fashion scene is definitely thriving and each designer brings in their own style thats unique yet has that indie edge. Living, working and studying in Portland is quite a thrill, so seeing this makes me proud!

i love the composition in the first pic with the reflection of the wall in the puddle. how much would i LOVE to see joan in this dress on MAD MEN

I know you’re looking for a wedding dress- have you come across wai-ching.com? Custom made dresses using hand dyed silk. Some are a bit funky (and if you’re going to check out her site, you have to check out the rad jumpsuits that no one will ever wear).
But I got married in one of her dresses and it was all natural- cotton and silk- no sweatshop- and custom made cheap!

The dress is beautiful… I’m not sure that very many people can pull off knee socks, though.

One of the best things about Liza is that she will make a dress to measure for you (bespoke, i suppose) for the same price as a ready-made. And she is super nice. If you’re in Portland definitely go check out her shop!
