i’m not totally sold on this season of top design yet (i don’t think they’ve got the host right yet) , but i’m always sold on jonathan adler’s pillows (and his presence on the show). they don’t always fit my personal style, but they always seem so happy and poppy. just the thing for a rainy day like today. one last thing i’m sold on? kelly wearstler‘s personal style. she’s fantastic.

[i'm traveling back from NH today so there won't be a weekly wrap up today- have a great weekend and i'll see you on monday!]

totally agree with you on kelly wearstler’s personal style! i’ve been tuning in partly to see what she’s going to be wearing…

I’ve been wondering when you would comment on the new season of TopDesign! I want to like it sooo much, but something about it just always feels lacking. Maybe it’s the cold judging area? At least the contestants living spaces are a little more well designed!

uh, that wearstler lady is nuts. Her style is terrible. And adler just seems like a fussy baby. I think top design is the worst of the reality competition shows on Bravo. Mostly because designing a space should take longer than a day or two. The compressed time frame just makes for shoddy final products.

I am so glad you said something about the host. I completely agree with you. I feel like there is a lack of personality with her and her the way she dismisses people is way too scripted. Its a little difficult to watch. Even though Heidi Klum says the same thing season after season, its still said with some personality

Oh, I’m liking it this year. Ms. Hicks is beautiful, but you’re right, she’s a little too formal for the part of host. I’m loving everyone else, though. And so glad Robert was out last week. He was a pain to watch…

I completely agree – Hicks is gorgeous and would be a great panel judge but she is much too formal and Upper-East Side’ish to be a good host. Kelly’s style is amazing: is it appropriate for real life – sometimes, for TV – absolutely!

I would give anything for instructions on how to make Jonathon Adler like bargello and needlepoint pillows. Are there any instructions or patterns available? Send to: mnga@bellsouth.net

Thank you

Brandie

I agree with you about Hicks as the host – B*O*R*I*N*G! Kelly and Jonathan can do not wrong…not only do I love their designs, they are both so entertaining to watch. I would LOVE to meet them out one night and have a champagne cocktail or something pink to drink!

Kendra

I would hate living in a bunker with that host. She has the personality of a tree stump, but she’s gorgeous. Maybe I’d put her in the corner as a sculpture.

The judging panel couldn’t get any better! I had the opportunity to work for one of them, and the experience was unforgettable! However, I don’t have much to say about India. Let’s cross our fingers for more inspiring challenges and designs in the future episodes.

these pillows are so pretty — it’s one of the easiest ways to add a pop to a room, even if it’s your only pop. Thanks for sharing these.

I agree that KW has great style, but something about her personality really irks me… I can’t put my finger on it.

I have to disagree with you on Kelly Wearstler’s style. While it can be fabulous when worn on other occasions, I feel sometimes that it distracts from the show. I often find myself paying more attention to her and her outfits (costumes?) than what is going on in the show. Of course that could be more of a sign of the general malaise of show itself in that it’s not particularly interesting and the contestants are only so so. For me the brightest star on the show is Todd Oldham. His ideas are so great, and he just seems like a genuinely nice and laidback person (rare for a designer). I would much rather just watch a show about him.

i agree with you- but i think the problem isn’t kelly’s style, rather than a show that lacks some of the real pizazz and interest that design has to offer. i wish they would give the designers a week per room and then edit it to fit the format- i think then we might actually see rooms that could compete with kelly’s hair and wardrobe.
