i’m a huge hable construction fan so d*s reader lora appleton was spot on with her before & after submission. lora decided to give this tired daybed and chair (which were originally in her nursery when she was a baby!) an update from its “granny” look. and as it turns out, it did actually belong to her granny. so lora picked up some hable construction “cosmos” fabric in a sunshine yellow and converted her former nursery room furniture into seating fit for an adult. great work, lora!

What a great makeover! I love Hable Construction. Do they make their fabrics available to non-industry folks?

sadly they’re trade only but you can hire a designer or call your local design center to order it for you (for a small fee)

This is a fabulous before and after! That fabric is just too gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.
I LOVE that ikat fabric. It totally changed the aesthetic in such a positive, peppy way!
Hmm. Maybe it’s not ikat, but rather ikat-esque? Or maybe I just really need to get glasses :)
i love this!
That fabric is smokin’ hot.
i’d really love to see these in a room together.
Lora! I love it! Beautiful work and I love the fabric you chose :)
This yellow fabric did wonders to brighten up these pieces! I am in love!
I love it. The yellow and white look so fresh and clean!
Brilliant! I am so inspired!
What a lovely makeover! Such a sunny happy color. I must say these before and after post are my favorite!! :)
Omg how amazing!! I love seeing a before & after set, too.
In my dream life (where I’m a successful author with money to blow on my particular design taste) I would totally buy these.
ugh – i hate yellow – BUT
could that set be any more cheerful?!
really really cute!
WOW! i totally love the yellow! what a great before/after.

Lora, this is SO great! I love the colors! Congratulations. Whitney, I have to agree with you, the before/after series are the best!!
fantastic – i have a bamboo couch waiting for a desperately-needed makeover, and this is really close to what i wanted to do! so cheery.
Adorable!
What a HUGE difference! That daybed is just so gosh darn cheery! I’d never be able to sleep on the thing ’cause I’d be too busy smiling! Fun, fun, fun :)
Rats! I’d really hoped after reading this post that they’d finally opened up to selling to the general public. I do love their fabrics!
WOW This made a HUGE difference!
Nicely done….
oh wow i am seriously in love. everything i love… wicker, yellow fabric. man. thanks for serious shot of inspiration!!!!!!!!!
great job! shows what some fun fabric can do. i bet marimekko fabric would work also and be more accessible to regular peeps.
Lora..we love what you did with the fabric! I hadn’t seen anything upholstered on a large scale and these turned out beautifully. glad the upholsterer worked out..thanks for sharing with us, Grace!
thanks for all the positive feedback! Yellow is my favorite color and i was so lucky to get this at Hable’s summer sample sale. I am just getting the room set up (its yellow, charcoal & white.) Thanks everyone!
The yellow floral pattern is so fresh and happy! I’m in love.
I love all of the before and after!! It would be great if you were able to compile a list of recommended local reupholsters as well as maybe an easy how to do it yourself. I have a couch and 2 chairs that I just purchased that I love to reupholster, but don’t know where to start.
tks
Cindy
I totally forgot to mention who did the upholstery. His name is John Day and he lives in Brooklyn, NY (and as you can see he rocks!) To get in touch with John:718-624-1380
