i love seeing what crafty people can do with things- designer bliss alexander smith sent over this cool pair of shorts that she embroidered with a fun faux-bois pattern that got me wishing i knew how to sew something cool onto my old jeans. bliss is full of great custom sewing ideas- click here to check out her flickr set of work or here to check out her etsy shop. thanks, bliss!

The faux-bois shorts are a riot! What next? A tattoo??? Would be interesting.
Bliss is very talented. I have several of her creations and get many compliments on them!
My goodness, that’s fantastic! What a pain it must have been, though, to work on the legs. But worth it.
Those shorts are awesome! I’d love to see it done in contrasting colors…
What a fun, clever idea. Machine quilting without the layers!
oh that is so cool.
go bliss go! zuba cuel!
Aw, thanks everyone! And yes the legs were a little challenging, but not as challenging as finishing them and realizing one was cuffed higher than the other. and then then taking all those stitches out and re sewing… but i still think they turned out okay.
thanks again everyone! i’m so flattered!
How clever! I love it. Would be cool to maybe see a skirt or dress in this pattern. Unfortunately, my sewing talents are in need of a serious refresher so I won’t be trying this myself. :>
great job, bliss! you never cease to amaze me.
The owl broke my heart !!! WONDERFUL!!!!
not to be a downer, but it seems like it would make the jeans really taut ,no?
Bliss is a Goddess and as always this is really original work, Go-Bliss-Go!
Bliss, your work is amazing- I love the animals!
bliss, you are truly an inspired designer.
i love all of our bliss originals. my husband, daughter and i have some. i think i may own the only sew-bliss-sew shirt specifically designed for a breastfeeding mama! you are the best!
Thanks so much everyone!!! as my 15 minutes of D*S fame wears down i’m still in the clouds over all the lovely things said. :) oh, lauren- i didn’t notice the jeans fabric change really. denim is pretty thick to begin with and i actually felt like punch millions of little holes in it might actually make them softer. and the thread i use (gutermann) is top notch. they probably will feel more course than regular jeans now, but i’ll ask the person i made them for and see what he thinks. :) Thanks again all!
i would expect nothing less from this lady. have you thought of turning the lines into trees? i’m sure you have :)
