one of the most inspiring things about working in the design community has been being able to connect in person with who the people who are creating the art that i love. for that reason i always jump at the chance to participate in any event that connects women in the arts. i was thrilled to be invited to a wonderful arts retreat taking place in new hampshire this summer and i wanted to spread the word in case anyone out there was looking for a getaway where they could meet, work and learn with other women working in the design/art field.
located on the shores of beautiful squam lake, the squam art workshops will take place this september 10th-14th. organized by elizabeth from blue poppy, the retreat will feature speakers on various topics (i’ll be one of them) as well as workshops, panel discussions and classes. you can view the full squam arts website right here and check out the schedule, location and story behind this wonderful event. i’ll be in attendance through friday and hope to see some of you there if you’re interested in attending. to find more information on the event, attending and registration click here. see you in september!

i got married up at squam! on an island in the middle of the lake — it is SO beautiful up there.

Oh I’ll be in Squam in a few weeks and am so excited since my family goes every summer and so I’ll miss this super cool event, but while you are in Squam you MUST MUST MUST go to Anderson’s Donuts in Plymouth – only a ten minute drive away. They are all delicious and will make your trip perfection.
Abbey!! I am so jealous–we so wanted to get married on Church Island and have the reception at Rockywold (where the workshop will be)… Didn’t work out for us but Squam is our favorite place in the world and we go every summer. I am counting the days until the end of this month, when we have our week up there! Grace, you will love it.

oh wow I really want to go to this! As a child I visited squam lake every summer with my mother and sister and I have such great memories of it! Now I need to find out how to get $500…

I was just up in that area last weekend, at Newfound Lake, where my wedding will be in August. Growing up I spent all my summers there, I wish I still could!
