d*s reader margie pyle sent over this fun before & after last week. not only did she change out the upholstery on her own, but she created the pillows herself using homemade stencils and white fabric paint. great work, margie! (and i love the wayne pate print in the back, too).

I love this! Yeah!!!!
Oh those chairs are just too adorable! And I love that print hanging on the wall — I originally saw that over at Dooce, but hers was red. I actually like this one better — it goes great with the pillows. PROJECT TIME!
You did a terrific job, love the room!
these are sooo cute! :)
Love the chairs, but LOVE the pillows!! Together they’re a perfect match.
Woah I love these chairs, they look so hot, Margie you are one talented DIY-er!
how DO you DO stencils on fabric?
DIY instructions anyone?
The color upholstery you chose, really pops with the wood on the chairs!! Great choice!!
love the pillows!
For once, a before and after I actually like
Very groovy design, Margie. I think im going to need some of your creative DIY advice in September and a Marg’s instruction booklet on printing pillows- very striking match here! I love that wall hanging picture.

Is there any chance that Margie Pyle would make more of these pillows for purchase? LOVE them and would pay for them….
Aaah, thanks everyone for your lovely comments – wow, it makes it all worthwhile:)!! Hmm, well I have to say, it is very tempting to set up a little crafty business to sell cushions etc, but at this stage I’m only starting to experiment… who knows where it’ll take moi!
Someone asked how I stencilled onto the cushions – well I did it a very simple way… I chose my shape (the ‘&’ would be the most complicated shape I would do), printed it onto card, cut the shape out, stuck the card down onto the cushion with double sided tape and painted inside the stencil (I went pretty carefully so as not to smudge). A few layers later and voila! Fun, cheap and happy times:)
stunning!
wow
Lovely work! Great chairs, and the blue really freshens the look.
Love them! Any chance you could share your step-by-step instructions? I’ve just bought a similar chair I’d like to reuphoslter myself.
