new: flatpak house

back in my pr days i had the pleasure of working with the guys at blu dot. i think there wasn’t a pr girl, designer or editor i talked to in those days who didn’t have a crush on blu dot’s charlie lazor. my pr days are long behind me now and charlie has since gone on to great fame for his flatpak project but i’ll always have a little design crush on him. the flatpak team sent over these new pictures of some homes they’ve constructed recently and i was really blown away. normally i’m not actually a big modern home person (i’m actually more of an “old house/lots of character person) but these are really gorgeous. if i ever won the lottery i’d love to have an old historic townhouse somewhere and then a big, open, modern home like these. to view more photos of recent flatpak homes click here. [ps: emmet at the walker sent in a funny link to a graphic designer's behind-the-scenes report on the making of the latest blu dot catalog.]

This is one of my favorite prefab homes. It is so classy and has much style to last a very long time.

the sofa isn’t from blu dot- the house was designed by the flatpak studio, which is run by charlie lazor, one of the designers from blu dot.

Beautiful — and the setting doesn’t hurt. :P

Love the light over the dining table too!

cara

do you know where the home in the top photo is located? it looks like the west, and it’d be interesting to find out how the prefab can deal with cold temps and snow.

Stephanie

AH! I love Flatpak! And that dining room is to die for!

wow, that is bad ass!! i want my house to look like that, but then i might have to get a real job, BOO!

Emily

Yes, a source on that light fixture would be excellent, pretty please! It is so fab. (The house is gorgeous as well.)

But you’d have to shovel off that snow. How many feet of snow can that house handle? What’s the roofing material made of? I’ll have to check out their site. The interior seems so stark and cold. A modern house doesn’t mean people have to get hyper modern in the furnishings. Color and texture is healing.

Mark

Hey CB, On a properly designed home, the roof will never need shoveling. Typically, more damage is done to the roof as roof cave ins are extremely rare. This roof will withstand the worst CO can throw at it all the while looking amazing.
