kari herer photography

lately i’ve been feeling a slow internal switch from feeling the need to collect patterns and prints, towards investing in large-scale photography. the other week i woke up and every bit of me felt like taking everything off the wall and just starting over- with a few (big) framed photographs on the wall. right now i’m really feeling florals so these new photographs from kari herer are right up my alley. i love the dark background in her peony shot above- it’s dramatic but still such a simple composition. and the numbered flower series below? gorgeous. kari used to take photographs for vera wang fine papers, tiny prints and william arthur, but now she’s out on her own selling her work on etsy- you can click here to check out (and shop) her full collection. enjoy!

i’m feeling so inspired by your posts. do you know of a good place to take sewing lessons in nyc?

We, her former co-workers, can attest to her incredible talent! Good luck to you, Kari – we miss you!

Personally, I find the photos sub par at best. Pretty flowers, but the lighting needs a kick in the pants

these photographs are absolutely beautiful! I’m curious to ask Brian how would he change the lighting? I like the soft warm feel, especially of the top photo.
also, Grace, I have been reading your blog for at least a year and think it is awesome and always inspiring.

hi Grace, do you know http://www.lumas.com ? they sell great large-scale photography for a reasonable price. originally from Germany they have a gallery in New York too. I’m sure, you’ll like it. Claudia

These are beautiful! The subject matter isn’t quite right for me, though. Do you think you’ll ever do a guide on up-and-coming photographers? I’m really interested in starting a collection of fine art prints, especially of urban scenes or landscapes, but I’m not sure where to look. [It can be overwhelming to sift through everything that's available on etsy.]

The link to lumas has some amazing stuff! Thanks, Jody, I love 20×200 as well, but it seems like the photographs always sell out immediately!

As Kari’s former employer, I can definitely attest to her amazing talents–not only in photography but also in invitation & marketing design. She’s so incredibly talented! And I agree with some of the other posts–the No. series are awesome, esp. No. 141! Love it!
