it’s been a really wonderful week here at d*s. after 4 solid days at the javits center for icff, surtex and the stationery show, the most overwhelming feeling i’m left with is how incredible this community of designers is. i think there’s a reason so many of us prefer to focus on designers who make things by hand, keep their businesses home-grown and stay independent- these designers have a dedication to their craft and customers that really shines through. and it shines through in their personalities as well- i feel so lucky to have met some of my favorite designers in person- and to have met some fantastic new designers, too. thank you to everyone who invited us into their booths this week- it was such an honor to be surrounded by so much talent. and speaking of talent, congratulations again to our 2008 d*s scholarship winners!
i think my head will start to spin if i try to absorb any more design this week so i’m off for the holiday weekend. i’ll be back on tuesday with regular posts so i hope you all have a wonderful memorial day! until tuesday, here’s a roundup of this week’s highlights.

That couch needs to be in my living room :) If only I had a living room….
Thank YOU Grace. I don’t think you know how appreciated you are by your community. You are so huge to us and yet so accessible. Thank you for posting about my work, coming to my booth, and inviting so many nice people to my booth through D*S. Have a great weekend!

Design overload—I can think of worse conditions. Enjoy yourself!
I am so in awe and inspired by the amazing resurgence of handmade and small business crafters and designers out there. I am so proud to be a part of this community and I can’t wait to see what else comes of it all!
I know this is a long shot, but do you have any idea what the wall paint color is in the photo with the orange couch? I love it.
