San Francisco’s Little Italy

How about a walk around San Francisco’s own little Italy, North Beach, today? I love North Beach, its funky little back alley shops, my favorite bookshop, City Lights Bookstore (home to beatniks like Jack Kerouac), every one’s favorite custom tailor, Al’s Attire, and more Italian food choices than you could possibly ever need, all nestled beneath historical Coit Tower. And it smells so good – loads of yummy Italian spices in the air. Here’s a glimpse of one of San Francisco’s most historical neighborhoods and one of my very favorites.

My boyfriend and I are moving to SF at the end of the summer and all of your posts are getting me so excited! I’m in love with all of your pictures! There are so many wonderful places to check out. I can’t wait!

Ahhhh! Another walk down memory lane. I lived on the corner of Powell and Lomard for 10years. I can’t even begin to count how many times I ate at Sodini’s. Don’t tell the tourists!

Cant spelll t’day. Lomard should be Lombard. Grazie.

Hi Victoria… We met last week to exchange posters. I admire the Buon Gusto sign every time I stand outside Golden Boy Pizza waiting for my slice to heat up. Great minds …

Very nice posting!
I moved here from France about 3 years ago and North Beach was my favorite place back then. I guess it made me feel in Europe so at home again:-)
Today I still love it but I would say that my favorite neighborhood is Union St/crissy field beach.
If you happen to hang out over here come and say hi! :-)

The photos and the write up make me want to spend another weekend in North Beach. Last year I spent a weekend there (even though I live right outside SF) and felt so much like a neighborhood person that it made the area even more enjoyable.

Thanks for all these wonderful suggestions of even more places to visit!
