Creative People and their Creative Spaces ~ Lisa Vorce

by Grace Bonney

First and foremost, thank you so much to Grace for inviting me to Guest Blog on Design*Sponge. I am a loyal D*S reader so needless to say, I am just thrilled to be here!

Admittedly, I have the best job in the world. I spend my days scouring the internet for beautiful things, walking the streets of Boston waiting to be inspired, roaming the aisles of my favorite little bookshop…all day, dreaming about weddings and ideas for my blog, Style Me Pretty. On any given Tuesday, you might find me on my sofa, hovering over my laptop creating inspiration boards and color palettes, constantly getting sidetracked by all of the beautiful sites I’ve found along the way.

This week though…I wanted to marry my love of weddings with my passion for interior design. Something that I don’t get to do very often at Style Me Pretty. I’ve enlisted the help of some of my favorite wedding professionals who are giving us a glimpse into their oh-so-chic homes and studios, showing us that creativity and innovation have no limits. First up, Lisa Vorce of the incredible event design firm, Oh How Charming!, in Los Angeles. Lisa is hands down, one of the most talented event designers out there…planning weddings that are one part magic, one part chic sophistication…

For more of this wedding, head over to Style Me Pretty, where we are featuring all of the incredible details.

And of no surprise, Lisa’s live/work loft is an absolute show-stopper. Inspired directly by the events that she designs, her studio and her home are complete reflections of who she is as a designer. The first floor is a meeting space for Lisa to brainstorm with clients…

Tidbits to note…The back wall is filled with fabric swatches that Lisa uses to create story boards for her clients / The beautiful shell light was bought through an exclusive design firm though a similar version can be found at Target, yep Target! / The great table sculpture was done by James Shilaimon, an artist who Lisa also uses for amazing hand painted custom table numbers.

Lisa’s home takes up the top two floors of her commercial/residential space. She purchased it this past August and has since completely renovated it from concrete floors and bare walls to a modern oasis….

Tidbits to note…The incredible ceilings are 20′ with sunlight pouring in from every direction / The manzanita tree in the corner was custom built for the space / Lisa had 4 dog beds made for the different rooms of the loft to match the fabric used in the room / Most of the furniture is from Environments, a green company that specializes in pieces made of reclaimed Brazilian hardwood.

For another fix of Lisa’s creative vision, we are featuring that insanely gorgeous wedding shown above over on Style Me Pretty today!
