im running out to speak with a class at FIT tonight so i wanted to end the day with a photo that’s been gracing my laptop screen for a few days (after which it will return to my rotating favorites from mattbites). this incredible wooden staircase is part of a south kensington house from UK architects, hogarth architects. oh to live in a home where everything feels (and looks) so sturdy and rich. to be so close with the earth and the thickness of life! Unbelievable shot and so inspiring :)
Could not love those stairs more…
Oh! That’s gorgeous!
Hmm – are you speaking at FIT – The Fashion Institute of Technology or where the link lead me to – Florida Institute of Technology?
whoops- just a trip over to manhattan, not down to florida ;)

Grace, what class?
I’m an interior design student at FIT… would love to hear you speak!
looks very cozy..
…until you slip in your stocking feet off those stairs…
Oh! That looks fantastic!
(and the black leggins with the green and white striped socks really make the picture awesome!)
that is such a neat idea!
i like that it’s rustic but not too cabin in the woods-y :)
Wow, I really love this. Beautiful shot. It makes me want to curl up in a big leather chair with a thick blanket and hot chocolate.
i’ve never seen stairs like these. so cool!
it makes me want to go chop wood, right about now.
What a simple yet creative approach to stairs. Love the socks too!
This is fantastic! One day when I build my house I want stairs like these!
Those substantial stairs do look awesome! I can see why you find this pic a keeper!
i love the rungs on these stairs, but think the woodwork below them is cheesey…..
i wish flor would make a DIY carpet product for stairs…
wow those stairs are clever!
you’re a sought after speaker in high demand :)
Wow I love those stairs, I always liked modern wood cabin look
yes, beautiful chunks of oak but kind of lost in all the panelling overkill. Would have stood out more surrounded by a different material, or my fave Cole and Son tree wallpaper
I’ve seen this design in mexico a bit, and loved it, but not great in a household with small kids…..
