The Garage Cafe,Vulcan, Old Eastwood Mall we lived around a mile from it. It was the first indoor Mall in Alabama and Downtown. Goodbye Birmingham!

These pictures look great – it must be a fantastic place to live. Unlike Birmingham in the UK, which is not so fantastic and is where I went to uni!

I’ve only been to Birmingham once and loved it. Of course I was there for one day, so I missed most of it. But I did get to go to Anthropologie! We have to get our priorities straight now don’t we?

I don’t know where I came across design*sponge, but I’m an avid reader daily for several weeks now. I’m a creative in Bham AL. I own a small boutique graphic design firm here. Born and raised here, I’ve always felt different and not a subscriber to most things “alabama”. My only solace, is staying close to my family (who originally were to settle in SF, CA in the early 60′s, but after a parental took a fellowship at UAB for ONE year, it’s 38 and counting!) + knowing I can make a difference. In aesthetics and hopefully activism and consciousness. I COULDN’T BELIEVE YOUR POST TODAY?! Are you serious… someone as savvy and chic as you lived here?! Thanks for your addition of 5 years and stay in touch with your ideas for progression!

where did you live? And how did you explore and stay on top of design with Bham as your hub? I’m so intrigued.
