i’ve had a bit of a crazy start this morning so i wanted to share some beautiful textile work while i try to take care of a few things. an alumna of the savannah college of art and design, anna drastik is an incredible fiber artist now based in new york city. these incredible textile pieces, ‘phase 2 #4′ and ‘phase 2- #5′ (which are part of her thesis show) took my breath away this morning and i couldn’t resist sharing them. the way anna plays with light in her textiles makes me want to tear down my stuffy curtains and hang something airy and dreamlike in the windows (i don’t think her pieces are intended for this use but a girl can dream). these two pieces feature screenprinted graphics, devore burn-out graphic shapes and silicone coating- and are designed to focus on the additive and subtractive processes in design. though she currently works as a designer at a streetwear label by day, anna works as a textile artist by night and on the weekends; you can check out more of her work right here. [thanks, anna!]
[update: anna's main site doesn't seem to be working so i've changed the link to connect with a video of her show at scad]

nice fabric, lol, love the “oopsie doodle daisy”, that’s great. ;)
These are lovely. It’s so nice to see a different design direction like this in textiles!
Those are awesome. I totally want those for curtains too!
this is amazing… very unique artwork. would love to see more.
thats perfect something that will fit in my apartment that not look like my moms curtains …
futuristic !!
Absolutely beautiful-saw the exhibit in NYC and wish they had materials like this in Australia-would love to drape my windows with these!!
Last weekend I went shopping and by chance I stoped at Triple Five Soul in SOHO. Lucky me because Drastik had a litle exhibition there and I tell you it’s like nothing you have ever seen before! She made this huge chandelier out of crazy silicone fabric. It is so innovative and just amazing. I wish it would come in little sizes… does anyone know if she sells her stuff or has more exhibitions around NYC?
Good to see that fabric design is innovative again – never seen that before – wow!
I love the fresh approach to minimalist textile design! Please, gimme more… it’s amazing!!
The prints are amazing! love your style!
The showing at Splashlight was truly brilliant. Even when Drastik’s medium varies there is always a continuous style. I will be looking out for more of her work in the future.
