A while ago i posted about this book because i loved the cover so much, it’s an exhibition catalog with a cover picture by BLESS focussing on jewelry and small objects. A few weeks ago i decided to buy it and discovered these gorgeous spoons by Manon van Kouswijk. Manon doesn’t have a website but you can see more of her work at the european ceramic work centre / EKWC from the time she worked there for a couple of months.

Andrea Ayala Closa
collection ’07

Andrea Ayala Closa graduated last year at the royal academy of fine arts‘ fashion department in Antwerp Belgium . I still find it stunning…. it’s somewhere between art and fashion and that is exactly what i find inspiring about it. Because you’re not only looking at something to wear but you can see drawings , paintings , furniture or a textile design…

Normally fashion is a lot about the body and in the old days it was used to sculpted the body into a form then desired. From the seventies on it was your body who had to give shape to the clothes instead of the clothes shaping you. So i see Ayala’s clothes as a strange and beautiful mixture of those two approaches.

Another great example of that, would be the lump collection by rei kawakubo – comme des garcon

Thanks for watching !
