after lots of hard work several new projects are launching on d*s next week and i couldn’t be happier. my sincere apologies for the delay on several of these- this year more than ever it’s been tough to balance all of these projects and the site with real life. i have a hard time saying “no” to things and this spring has been a real exercise in trying to juggle too many balls at once. so, if i can make it through this spring i’m definitely going to learn a thing or too about organization and when to ask for help. so, until then here’s an update on what’s to come next week [the beautiful sofa above is from lucy allen at hable construction, it's one of her favorite hable reupholstery pieces and i couldn't resists sharing]:
- the d*s scholarship will be launching again: the details will be live on the site next friday along with the exciting prizes, which are bigger and better than i could have ever hoped for!
- the d*s job board will finally be live! if you’d like to submit a resume or job listing to upload just shoot me a line right here. resumes will be hosted for 3 months for $15 and job listings will be posted for $100 for one month. the board will be free to view and search, with no registration required.
- the d*s diy contest: finalists will be announced on wednesday and voting will open the same delay. the entries were incredible this year so we may have to do several days of voting to break it down, but either way, you’ll have your finalists on wednesday and your chance to decide who should win $1500 in prizes.
- d*s biz ladies meetup LA: the delayed (so sorry!) los angeles biz ladies meetup will be announced next week. i’m finalizing speakers and the location right now so next week we’ll have the final details ready. and yep, i’m trying to get a brooklyn meetup together, too.
there are two more exciting projects coming this spring and i hope to launch those both before may and the madness that is icff and all of the other design shows so stay tuned. in the meantime, here’s a wrap up of this week’s highlights:
- new sneak peeks: elena coleman and matt and benedikta
- new diy projects: wedding cake toppers and the contact paper cure
- new product roundup: anne’s modern china guide
- new mini trend: purple

I’d love to know more about those portraits on the wall. They’re stunning!
I love the prints above the loveseat. Any idea who did them? Thanks.
Good lord, lady! You are busy. I am looking forward to hearing about the biz ladies meetup.
I know where there are some portraits similar to those in the photo. Lavatican.etsy.com
Yeah, its my store, and there is a sale on right now. Please take a look.
That is a lovely set up in the photo.
The portraits look to me like the ones found in the 1950′s editions of Walter Foster “How to Draw” books. The illustrations in those books are wonderful.
Don’t be hard on yourself..You have an amazing blog and many other things going on..Enjoy, you are doing a great job!!!

Those prints on the wall in this post are so beautiful and raw. I love that they arent framed, it suits the style so much :)
Those portraits are great and liza’s right, they are exactly like the Foster “How to Draw” books. My great grandmother must have cranked out hundreds of those drawings.
I am very excited about the job board since I just started applying for fulltime design jobs last week!
Oh I am so excited to see the entries you narrowed it down to! Can’t wait to see what everyone came up with. :)
