sneak peek: design for mankind

today’s first sneak peek belongs to fellow blogger erin loechner of design for mankind. i’d long admired some beautiful shots of her bedroom i’d seen on her website and was thrilled that she was game to let us peek a bit more deeply into her home. i’ve chosen my favorite photos above and below (for commentary from erin click here) but as always you can click here for additional and full-sized photos of erin’s home. [thanks, erin!]

The silhouette wall is lovely. I also really like the combination of wall stenciling, plated wall design. Give off wonderful texture!

Erin L. is so warm, inviting and lovely on her blog it is no surprise that her home has the same characteristics! I love the soft warm tones, the black and white collections, the art (and of course the handsome Bernard ;)

Love the plates over the bed (and all other details). Of course, it wouldn’t work here in the bay since we’re waiting for “the big one”.

Andrea

This olive green has such a depth to it… when light hits it, it looks almost different. Wonderful black chair! Looks like a wonderful place to read.

This is such a beautiful home and I love the collections on the walls. It’s all so gorgeous!

Yay Erin! I looked at the first picture and immediately thought — where’s the tv? Either it is well-hidden or…maybe the tv is taking the picture? Or perhaps there is no tv. Why am I looking at these beautiful photos and this is all I can think about?

Beautiful spaces! I’m so happy to see Erin’s home featured here!

Thank you SO SO much, sweet Grace— your words are too kind. Thanks for playing a huge part in the inspiration behind the decor!

Love to you,

what a beautiful space. i love the modernized take on victoriana replete with wallpaper patterns and silhouettes. marvelously creative and wonderfully pretty.

overall very nice. however, repeating the collage of “objects” in each room bothers me. perhaps i’m the only one?

Sarah:

My husband performed a bit of James-Bond action to hide the projector screen (our TV is actually a movie screen/projector combo)— the screen is operated by a remote and retracts from the ceiling over the fireplace mantle (shown in the first pic). I hate having my TV be the focal point of the room, so it’s nice to have it hidden for entertaining!

Sarah Bray

WOW, Erin! That is a really awesome sleight of hand! I agree…having the tv being the focal point is a bit depressing, but sometimes inevitable. I’m impressed!

Denise

Wow – really inspiring. Reminds me to just have fun with decorating. Love the plates of course. Love the puppy too.

I love Erin. She’s the absolute sweetest. It’s so nice to see that her space is as warm and inviting as she is!
